Not so long ago a customer contacted me, with which I have already worked more than once. Because we always had misunderstandings with him about the formation of the price for my services, I, being at that moment in an extremely complacent mood, invited him to determine the amount that he is willing to pay me for the work that proposed.
He ran for half an hour with a tape measure, measured, counted, checked with some numbers, and eventually announced the figure.
The trick is that it was about two times higher than I would define myself. As a person with a conscience, I transparently hinted to him that he had definitely miscalculated somewhere.
He ran a little more and happily reported that he had found this error. Therefore, the price should be less than one third of the previously announced. I said ok. He was very happy and thanked more than once for correcting him.
The funny thing is that when he realized a couple of days later that all this work would be done not in a week (at least) as he expected, but much earlier, he began to be indignant that the price was too high. Those. in fact, the same theme - well, wow you earn! It's too much.
To my puzzled "You yourself announced the price and approved," he could not find anything better to say than "well, it was like preliminary agreements ..."
As a result, of course I paid as agreed. But in a kind of stupor with such an approach, he still managed to drive me for a while.)
