What months do I consider optimal for sowing petunias for seedlings. I sow part
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
Petunia has become one of the most popular flowers for decorating gardens, balconies and window sills. It looks good in a flower bed, in boxes, flowerpots and hanging pots.
In order to get your favorite varieties on your own, you need to not only find and buy the seeds of the desired plant. It is important to grow petunia seedlings on time and correctly. Plants sown too late will only flower in mid-summer. Which does not suit me at all as a gardener.
December - the first month of sowing petunias
It so happens that very few seeds of the desired variety can be bought. Or from several seedlings you want to grow 2-3 dozen bushes. This is possible by sowing petunia in December.
In the first month of winter, I sow some seeds from which I get mother plants.. This means that in March I will cut off cuttings from it and root it. From 5 seedlings it turns out to make 20, or even 30 full-fledged, plants ready to bloom in June.
But speed and reproduction come at a price. Any early sowing of seedlings is impossible without additional lighting. For my petunia seedlings, I use a Uniel full spectrum (pink light) 18W LED lamp. It costs quite inexpensively: 700 - 1,000 rubles.
Sowing petunia, if there is no backlight
Petunia is not a plant that blooms quickly after sowing. To get bushes blooming in June, you need to sow seeds for seedlings as early as possible. And the very first month when we are allowed to do sowing without additional lighting is March.
Residents of the southern regions, in which the activity of the sun is higher, can safely take up planting in early spring. The northerners will have to wait until the middle of the month. After all, seedlings that do not receive enough light turn out to be flimsy and lagging behind in growth.
