I didn't think it was so interesting to anyone. But if you think about it, there are a lot of mountainous regions of Russia where people also live. These are the Caucasus Mountains from the south and north, Altai, Sayan, Karelia, etc. Therefore, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the models that offer manufacturers from the former Soviet Union (since a lot is based on Soviet developments), as well as what Chinese manufacturers. 1. MicroHPP from LLC "GIDROPONIKA" Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
The model is called "Shar-Bulak". The installation is based on Soviet developments (Soyuzvodoavtomatika). As you can see from their photographs, the water supply (intake) occurs from the upper point of the river upstream into the pipe going to the unit. An asynchronous motor is used in generator mode. The modifications are as follows:
- Power 1.0 kW. Water consumption 7-9 l / s. The required vertical water drop is 3.5-4 meters. The cost is $ 950.
- Power 1.7 kW. Water consumption 20 l / s. The required vertical water drop is 6-7 meters. The cost is $ 1500.
- Power 5.0 kW. Water consumption 20-30 l / s. The required vertical water drop is 8 meters. The cost is $ 2200.

2. MicroHPP from the company "Inset", g. St. Petersburg
Perhaps the most experienced company on the post-Soviet market for mini and micro HPPs. From the information on the website, you can find out that she has been on the market for 32 years. 43 micro and mini HPPs of various capacities were built and put into operation with a total of 84 units. They offer units from 3 kW to 5 MW. And they not only sell equipment, but also provide a full range of services: from design surveys, river bed surveys, design, equipment manufacturing and installation.
I will show the objects of operating MicroHPPs that are most interesting to readers. Because, I think, units of 1 MW and more will be of interest to units.
1. Leningrad region, pos. Ivanovsky, Khrevitsa river. Two units installed in 1996 and 1999. Propeller turbines.
2. Microhydroelectric power station "Sokolki" in Belarus. Propeller turbine. Two units (taking into account the reserve). Only one is constantly working. Commissioned in 2001

5. Uvero mini-hydroelectric power plant, Cuba. Power 200 kW. Bucket-type hydraulic unit.
The company has completed micro HPP facilities in South Korea, Colombia, Cuba and, of course, in Russia. The entire list can be found on their website. I do not include mini hydroelectric power plants in this review, because for their construction, significant investments are needed, a capital and a large building.
The company offers:
1. Diagonal turbines. The blades are not located perpendicular to the water flow, but at a design angle of 30 to 60 degrees. This improves the performance of the turbines.
2. Propeller turbine. Allows to obtain high rotational speed with low head and water flow. The power can be from 30 to 1800 kW.
3. Bucket turbines. They are used with high water pressure. Buckets in the wheel are made paired (do not load the wheel bearings). Inside there are nozzles with adjustable water supply. Power: from 100 to 3300 kW.
4. MicroHES. Power from 5 to 100 kW

I did not find out how the company solves environmental issues. But if they have so many facilities put into operation behind them, then everything is resolved through interaction with certain state authorities.
I did not look for other Russian manufacturers. There were also Ukrainian manufacturers who stopped producing turbines for micro hydroelectric power plants. Maybe not everything.

There are many such manufacturers on alibaba.com. Descriptions are superficial. Similar to "we can do everything." And the price, I think, is for enticing customers. There are Russian companies that can find any equipment in China for your requirements and accompany the delivery. But for some reason, I have not met an offer in our market, who would supply such hydraulic units to our market. Perhaps the demand has simply not been created. Or it is extremely low. Many in remote areas simply do not know that there is such equipment.
