How to get rid of rodents in the house: 5 effective mousetraps from available tools

click fraud protection

With the onset of cold weather, the food supply of rodents becomes scarce, and they rush closer to human dwellings. Such a neighborhood becomes a real problem, as mice begin to dominate the pantry, make holes in the insulation, gnaw at the wiring and, in general, spoil property. How to reduce their population in your farm - read on.

How to get rid of rodents in the house: 5 effective mousetraps from available tools

Cans and other flasks are the simplest traps.

The most primitive and "lazy" mouse trap is a deep vessel with a high steep side. There are no requirements for the material, the main thing is that the rodent has nothing to catch on to. The best option is a glass bowl.

The mousetrap works simply: sunflower oil is poured onto the bottom of the vessel, which works simultaneously as a bait and a trap. Oil layer - 1.5-2 cm. The mouse goes to smell, gets into a viscous oil, and cannot get out, since the sliding does not allow the paws to catch on the surface.

The publication uses photos from free sources.

Pouring oil is a costly exercise, but it should be understood that one portion is enough to overfill two dozen small rodents. The cheapest oil should be used: it has a richer aroma and mice respond better to bait.

Jar, plank and seeds

Another "lazy" mousetrap is made from an ordinary three-liter jar and a small board. As a bait, you need a husk from seeds, some seeds themselves and a few grams of fragrant sunflower oil.

The principle of operation of the device is as follows: a mouse, wanting to have a bite, climbs the plate, gets into the jar and cannot get out of there due to the specific structure of the vessel. The husks need to be poured about five centimeters. The oil in this case enhances the effect of the bait, spreading the smell to a larger area.

It would seem, what is the husk for, because you can put a piece of smoked bacon on the bottom of the can and that's it! But no, if you leave the bottom open, then the rodent can push off from the hard surface and easily jump out of the can. The husk creates huge inconveniences for this action.

Glass and coin

If the above traps work as a means of mass trapping of rodents, then a humane, but accurate mousetrap is obtained from a glass and a coin. Any small jar, glass or cup (heavy - glass or ceramics) is needed, as well as a piece of cheese, bacon or dough as bait.

The device works as follows: the container is placed upside down on the edge of the coin with one edge - an unstable structure is obtained. A bait is placed under the container. If this is a dough, then you can glue it to the inner wall of the jar opposite to the coin.

During the meal, the rodent will surely touch the coin, knock it over and an unstable glass or bank will cover it. Plastic containers are not suitable for the manufacture of this mousetrap, since they do not have sufficient weight. From under a light polymer glass, the mouse will easily get out.

Bucket traps

These are already more serious devices for catching annoying rodents. They are suitable not only for capturing mice, but also for catching larger pests - rats. In the manufacture of the device, you will need the following items: a bucket (a small barrel if you are hunting for rats); jar or plastic bottle; wire or metal rod; Scotch; bait.

The trap is made very simply - two holes are drilled at the top of the container through which the axis is threaded. A bottle or can is attached to the axis: the main thing is that this element rotates freely. Of course, there is no need to put bearings in it, but there should be free rotation. Seeds or other grains are attached to the roller jar with tape. In order for the rodents to get to the bait, it is necessary to attach a ladder board to the bucket.

The trap works according to the following principle: a rodent climbs onto a rotating jar, to which the bait is glued and falls into the bucket. Water is poured into the bucket in advance, by ⅓ of the volume of the container. Representatives of the mouse family are not very good swimmers and do not stay on the water for a long time.

Option number 2

You can make a trap without a roller can, and a plank will play the role of an unstable platform. In this option, you need to thread an axis at the top and in the middle of the container, on which to fix the board. In order for the board to always be in a horizontal position, you need to drill four more holes at a distance of 2-3 cm from the axis and fasten a stretched lace or elastic band through them.

The bait is glued to the board in the area of the axis using tape or other means. Water is poured into the container in the same way as in the first case. Such traps should be checked once a day. To extract the caught individuals from the water, it is better to make a metal net.

Rats need a bigger caliber

If the farm is annoyed by rats, you can increase the "caliber" of containers and bottles, using a two hundred liter metal barrel as a catcher, and make the roller from a plastic polish.
