3 gross mistakes due to which Violets do not bloom at all
Many home plant lovers prefer violets. I also love these plants with velvet leaves and bright flowers. I have been growing them for a long time.
But at the beginning of their cultivation, she made mistakes, on which she studied, and drew conclusions. I want to share with you my experience on how to achieve a lush bloom of violets, and avoid mistakes.
Mistakes that prevent violets from blooming
1. Very dense soil in flower pots
In order for violets to please with lush flowering, a sufficient amount of air must flow to the root system. And since the soil is dense, this does not happen. To create favorable conditions for the roots, I add perlite to the peat. There is nothing better for violets.
Try it and you will be convinced of it. But a simple garden soil for violets is not suitable. Even if you first planted the plant in loose soil, over time it will thicken and worsen. In this case, the flower needs a transplant.
Without this, it will not be possible to achieve flowering. I recommend replanting adult plants 2 times a year.
When replanting, use special soil mixtures. Or, if you want to prepare the soil yourself, then be sure to add perlite, vermiculite and charcoal. And it is important that the soil is always loose.
2. Changes in air temperature
If violets stand on the windowsill of windows that are often opened for ventilation, or on the windowsill near the balcony door, they are exposed to cold air.
This has an adverse effect on them. The ideal temperature for violets is from +18 to +25 C. The temperature must be constant, without fluctuations.
You can easily fix the error. To do this, you need to choose a warm place for them without drafts.
3. Volumetric flower pots
When I decided to grow and propagate violets, I bought beautiful pots from a flower shop. I left out the size of the pots and it turned out that they were too big. Now I know, and I advise you, choose a pot for violets that is half its crown in volume.
When growing in a large pot, the plant spends its energy on the growth of the root system, and not on the growth of peduncles. Therefore, I already know from experience that for most violets, the optimal size is a pot up to 9 cm in size.
After the measures taken to eliminate errors, the first week is still not noticeable improvement. But in the future, every day you will notice how your violets develop, turn into lush hats, and delight you with their flowering for a long time.
Proper care, favorable conditions are important components to ensure abundant and long-lasting violet flowering.
