An amazing ecological home. An oasis in the city center! Guess where it is?
Once I happened to visit an extraordinary place. When traveling in Europe, a rare tourist does not dream of getting to Vienna, the capital of the Austrian Empire. By right, this city deserves its name as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. There are truly great architectural masterpieces here. And on one of the central streets of this legendary city, you can get into a fairy tale, since the building located on it is the embodiment of the fairy tales of the brothers Grim. I wonder what this building is?
This is an oasis house or “ecological house” as the author himself called it. The building was designed by an artist-architect, who by the way did not complete his studies and does not have a diploma, but recognized as a genius by some and a dropout by others, Friedensreich Hundertwasser from 1977 to 1986 biennium The author's idea was that the house, as it were, merges with nature. There are no right angles, the walls and floors are like park or forest paths, there are waterfalls.
The house has over 200 plants. And this is a municipal house, where civil servants live. To settle in it, you need to pass special training courses on plant care and pass an exam. Even so, not every inhabitant is able to live there for a long time: someone gets tired of uneven floors and walls, someone is bothered by tourists, some are tired of caring for plants. Would you be able to live in such a house?
The house is not only externally ecological, but the materials from which it is built are also ecological - brick and wood. And one more feature is that Hundertwasser himself did not accept a fee from the city for his project.
On the ground floor of this amazing place where you can sip a cup of aromatic Austrian coffee, you will be shown a free movie in which Friedensreich will personally guide you through "his" home. Would you like to go there?
