How to protect gooseberry and currant bushes from bud mites without harm to plants and their own health.

The main problem for berry bushes such as gooseberries and currants is the kidney mite. If you do not take measures in time and do not process the bushes, you can lose not only the entire crop, but also the plants themselves.

What does a kidney mite look like?

Kidney mites are small pests no more than 0.2 mm in size, which live in the buds of currants and gooseberries, and from this they got their name.

In early spring, the tick becomes especially active, because when the snow melts, the buds swell and the females begin to lay eggs. When there is little room for them in the habitable kidneys, they move to new ones.

Thus, the tick spreads very quickly and, if the bushes are not treated in time, they move to a new bush.
Infected kidneys differ from healthy ones in size: those in which the tick has settled and eggs are laid are much larger.

How does a kidney mite infect bushes?

Most often, it falls on currants or gooseberries with an infected seedling, and from it quickly moves to healthy shrubs. Sometimes birds or ticks are carried by the wind.

The tick is often a carrier of serious infectious diseases that cannot be cured. In this case, you will have to remove the entire bush from the site and burn it.

What is the most effective way to deal with kidney mites?

Most gardeners treat bushes with chemicals, but some prefer means that do not harm the bushes and our body.

They use well-proven folk remedies. And here is one of them, which I have been using for more than a year and the bushes in my garden do not get sick with anything.

Recipe for preparing a composition for treating shrubs from a kidney mite:

You will need 200 g of laundry soap, which must be grated on a coarse grater and 100 ml of oil, preferably unrefined with a smell.

Place the soap in a liter jar and pour 0.5 liters of warm water. Leave this solution overnight to swell the soap.

Then add vegetable oil to a jar of soap and mix everything well until smooth.

Pour the solution obtained in a jar into a bucket with 10 liters of water and, stirring, spray the bushes.
