How to soften thickened stiff nails to cut them easily? Two easy ways from my personal experience
Greetings, dear regular and new guests of my humble blog!
More often than not, younger ones only have harder toenails than other toes. But the more a person is, the more urgent the problem becomes.
The topic of my today's publication, it turns out, is interesting for many of those who suffer from thickening of nails. Judging by the metric, my channel is read by adults and even more mature people, my advice will come in handy. Let's first outline the causes of thickened nails.
- Violation of blood circulation in the legs or fingers, in connection with which the nutrition of the nail plate worsens and it grows more slowly, thickening as it grows. And problems with blood circulation and nutrition may arise as a result of a past injury, or the plate may have been removed at one time and damaged the wells from which the nail grows.
- Those who do not follow the sharpness of the scissors blade, there is a risk when cutting to damage the nail in the "root". Therefore, dull blades should not be either forgotten or ignored.
- In elderly or bedridden patients, with age, changes occur throughout the body, respectively, in the legs.
From my personal practice of caring for my grandmother, I have experience to easily cut off any nail, making it more flexible by far not only by steaming.
Let me insert links to other posts from my channel between the lines:

But steaming and washing your feet for a start is, of course, a mandatory procedure. After washing the legs of my grandmother, I asked to soak in hot water with a tablespoon of salt and regular tea soda added.
Then I just got my nail file, one that cuts well, tough. And she began to cut down the upper layer of the nail plate carefully. Not the barbs, but the entire top layer. Then again in the same hot bath for at least 5 minutes.
You can repeat cutting if the nails are not flexible enough after that. But don't overdo it. From this treatment, the nail becomes thinner and is easily cut off. This is the first method, but it can be combined with the second method, which I have been doing lately.
The second way is to add tbsp lemon juice to the foot bath for a start. spoon or powder of citric acid half a teaspoon. After the bath, again either apply a cotton pad moistened with lemon juice to the nail, or squeeze the lemon slices well. It's not worth keeping for a long time. I usually apply for 5 minutes, but it depends on who has what kind of skin around. If it stings or causes discomfort, it is better to keep the time to a minimum. The nail is easier to trim, and lemon juice also helps to clear the heels and feet of the stratum corneum skin, calluses and even on the sides of the fingernail, it is easy to "renew" the skin with scissors or nippers.
