Pests on Spathiphyllum - how to identify and fight? How I almost ruined Women's happiness
Flower "female happiness" is one of the unpretentious indoor plants. It complements the atmosphere of the room with its greenery and freshness.
It can be placed anywhere: both in an apartment and in an office space. Problem situations with Spathiphyllum can arise with improper care of it.
Important! An indoor flower can significantly suffer not only from the destruction of its root system and decay, but also from harmful insects.
They are very rare, but if this has already happened, then coping with insects is not very simple and easy.
Harmful insects are very dangerous for a houseplant
The disease or discomfort of Spathiphyllum is immediately shown on the flower. First of all, there is a suspicion of harmful insects.
The reason for this is: poor plant growth, a sluggish state, the leaves are covered with spots - all these signs indicate that "women's happiness" is infected with pests. They can live both in the soil and in the flower itself.
This type of indoor plant has a lush appearance, due to the green bushes. It is not so easy to get to the leaves for their processing. If suddenly insects appear on the plant, then they hide in the leaves themselves or on the surface of the earth and then they are destroyed.
The process of plant recovery is quite complex and lengthy - it requires special and proper care.
My advice! If you saw the appearance of the first harmful insects on Spathiphyllum, you must immediately treat the flower with antiseptic agents. In an emergency, pest infestation requires a complete plant transplant.
The most common parasites that lead to the disease of "female happiness":
1. Mealybugs, it is not easy to recognize them. They hide between the leaves of the flower. When Spathiphyllum becomes infected with this type of insect, then the process of its growth, the appearance of plaque and staining of leaves, their lethargy stops.
It is possible to remove such parasites on your own, but it will take a long time. To effectively destroy them, it is necessary to treat the plants with an antiseptic. I recommend - treat with a simple alcohol solution;
2. Aphid can form on a flower in colonies. They especially like to hide in the center of the plant, in their leaves..
Important information! Aphids in most cases appear on young leaves of the flower of "female happiness" and multiply there at high speed.
The main sign of infection with such parasites is external changes in the flower. If you immediately notice the infection of Spathiphyllum with aphids, you can treat the flower with a folk and simple remedy, so to speak - tincture of onion peel.
With a deeper pest infestation, the plant must be treated with antiseptic agents from all sides. It is impossible to get rid of aphids at once. I recommend spraying the leaves of the plant with an antiseptic three to five times;
3. Spiderweb mites appear on leaves at a fast rate. This is manifested in the fact that the leaves turn yellow and dry. I advise you to remove the affected leaves immediately. If this does not help, then treat with insecticides.
The main condition is to draw up a clear plan for caring for the plant. It is best to increase the watering of the flower and periodically ventilate the room.
Faced with such a situation in my own experience, I would recommend that you install a tray under the flower with wet pebbles;
4. Shields can be seen on the plant immediately by the sticky bloom. They are often found on the roots of leaves. To destroy the scabbard, it is effective to use a soapy solution for wiping the leaves and treating with an insecticidal agent.
Harmful insects are always very dangerous and harmful to the indoor flower. Therefore, in order for Spathiphyllum to grow well and flourish, it is necessary to properly care for it.
If you follow all the conditions, then your indoor flower will not hurt, but will delight you with its floral gardening.
