Popular among mechanical cleavers is the design called "Crane". The principle of operation is simple: the chopping part with a weighting agent on a long lever is forcefully lowered onto the workpiece, which stands on a special platform. The spring through the block helps to lift the weighty cleaver, which greatly facilitates the work. There are many variations of this design.
Mechanized
The hydraulic jack has a lifting force of several tons. With such opportunities, it will not be difficult for him to split the block of wood on the cutting surface. The design is simple and convenient, reduces labor costs. Disadvantage: relatively low productivity - slow movement of the worker; but you have to wait until the return spring sets the piston to its original position.
But if you use a motorized one instead of a manual pull, and use a powerful hydraulic cylinder instead of a jack, the performance of the wood splitter will increase significantly! The power of the device is enough not only for working on one blade, you can immediately dissolve the block into several logs. Both vertical and horizontal installation of the hydraulic cylinder is used.
Devices working with a special screw are popular among wood splitters. This is a threaded cone. Principle of operation: using a thread, the cone enters the block, splitting it from the inside. The device is powered by an electric drive. Advantages: small size, portability, high performance.
