How to choose fish to buy pink salmon with caviar in the store?
How nice it is when you find caviar in the pink salmon you bought: not only is this type of fish very useful, but also caviar costs decent money.
It's a shame that such pleasant surprises don't happen very often. It turns out that there is a way that will help you identify exactly the female and naturally this will increase the chance of buying fish with caviar inside.
Suppliers of pink salmon are very good at identifying males and females among the fish in order to earn extra money on caviar extracted from the product.
Experienced housewives share with you their secrets, thanks to which they often have delicious pink salmon dishes and 100-200 grams of healthy caviar on their table.
The first sign by which it is easy and simple to determine whether there is a male or a female in front of you is, first of all, color. Those who studied zoology at school know that pink salmon females have an unremarkable gray color, while males, on the contrary, are bright and noticeable.
Secondly, you can tell the sex of pink salmon by the head.
In females, the nose is wider than in males, and the nose is smoother. As for the males, their jaw has some curvature and it is slightly pointed, making them look like true predators. The teeth of the males are larger than those of the females.
The third trait indicating the difference between males and females is the presence of a hump in the former. The fact is that males have a small hump during spawning. But this sign cannot be taken as a basis: the fact is that on the counter you can rarely find pink salmon with such a clear difference.
But the easiest way is to palpate: you should press on the belly of the fish and you will feel a seal under your fingers, which may turn out to be caviar. Having "felt" in this way several fish, you will be able to determine exactly which one contains caviar.
Of course, when pink salmon is frozen, it is almost impossible to find caviar in this way, so it is worth applying the other signs listed above.
I personally tried to apply these tips in practice and I succeeded: of the three fish I purchased, two of them turned out to be caviar. Thus, I have almost half a kilogram of healthy and fresh caviar in stock.
To celebrate, I cooked not only baked pink salmon, but also salted caviar. My family is delighted, and I am very grateful to those hostesses who shared their secrets with me.
