Reading tips for caring for indoor plants, many growers are faced with a recommendation: water and spray flowers with exceptionally "soft" water so that they grow better and please with regular beautiful flowering.

But how do you get this "soft" water at home? In fact, there are several ways. I tell you which one is better and will give the first positive results after a week of use.

Simple settling

The "lazy" and popular advice is to simply pour tap water into a container and leave it there for about a day so that it settles, chlorine evaporates from it, and it becomes suitable for watering.

Why don't I recommend this method for use? The fact is that it is not effective enough. Chlorine will leave the water, but not other harmful impurities. This advice is especially not suitable for residents of those regions in which "hard water" with heavy metals in the composition flows from the tap. Standing will not remove most of the color-damaging components. Therefore, we will consider a more efficient way.

We clean and soften the water for flowers correctly

In order to solve the problem efficiently, we use a filter. Do not be afraid and prepare for unnecessary expenses: we will make it at home from cheap materials at hand. We need:

· A clean, thin cotton cloth or gauze. Gauze bandages will work, but expect a relatively high cost compared to cloth.

· Cotton wool.

· Activated carbon (the most common tablets). If, besides, you are an avid gardener and you have your own ash, it will be even better - it will go instead of coal.

The filter making process is extremely simple. Charcoal tablets, if used instead of ash, should be ground into powder. Then take a layer of fabric and spread a thin but even layer of cotton wool over it.

Sprinkle with charcoal powder or ash evenly. Repeat in 2-4 layers so that there is cloth or gauze at the top and bottom of the structure.

Pass hot tap water through this filter (it is additionally purified and softened compared to cold water). Collect it in a container and cool to room temperature.

All filter components except the fabric are not recyclable - they should be thrown away and the fabric washed.

The resulting soft water will delight all your indoor plants - you will notice the first results almost immediately.
