How to repair a chipped enamel on a bathroom or shower tray at home (4 best ways)
The bathroom and toilet were being renovated in their apartment. The newly installed bathtub simply shines, pleases the eye with its smoothness and whiteness. But over time, everything loses its original appearance. On the bath, when a watering can or other heavy object falls, chips, cracks, and scratches may appear.
No need to change the bath, chips can be easily repaired at home.
Once there was such a problem in the studio, which I rented earlier. A good repair was made, a new bathtub, toilet, etc. A year later I saw that a chip appeared in the bathroom, the tiles cracked in some places, the toilet was loose, the linoleum in the kitchen was cut in places, cabinets with sagging hinges, etc. It's just that some people don't spare other people's property. Then I had to patch up the chip, rebuild the linoleum, fix the toilet, fix the furniture and sell the studio.
Let's talk specifically about chipped bathroom enamel. How to patch up chips, cracks in order to return to their original appearance? There are several ways. In all cases, you will need a spatula, degreaser (any), sandpaper and gloves.
Rinse thoroughly and clean the bath surface. Use a towel and hair dryer to dry. Then degrease the surface.
1. If the chips are small, they can be easily covered with porcelain chips. You need a few shards of china. Grind into powder. Epoxy resin with powder is applied to the chipped area and additionally sprinkled with the same powder abundantly. Smooth with a spatula, wait until everything is dry (3-4 hours). Align completely with sandpaper or a grinding wheel.
2. For the repair of acrylic and molded surfaces, there is a special tool on sale. The kit contains everything you need: sandpaper, rubber block, enamel, hardener, polishing paste. Minus - high price and reviews (read below).
Some use this repair kit for sealing the joint between the wall and the bathroom instead of a sealant. Most complain that the tubes are half empty. Instead of 20 gr. enamel only 13 grams. Consider this when buying.
3. Car putty (with fiberglass) helps out when chipping on a cast iron, acrylic or steel bath. Choose the lightest color of the putty. Apply a putty, sand after drying. Then buy a spray can (aerosol) with enamel for baths and white ceramics. The repair site will not be visible.
However, it must be remembered that the aerosol turns yellow after a while, but holds well.
4. The cheapest way - BF-2 glue (about 70 rubles) and filler (whitewash, tooth powder, chalk). It will only dry for a long time - about 4-5 days.
