How to increase soil fertility in your garden several times without the use of manure and fertilizers.
Not everyone has the opportunity to get manure for their beds, so other options should be used.
Experienced gardeners and gardeners have come up with a natural fertilizer that is easy to prepare and, moreover, it will be absolutely harmless, unlike mineral fertilizers.
From time immemorial, people have used ordinary straw, which is inexpensive, but it contains elements that can provide plants with everything they need.
How can you turn straw into natural fertilizer?
It turns out that straw contains a large amount of elements necessary for the soil.
If we compare straw and manure, then the first even wins: 1 ton of straw contains the same amount of organic matter as 3 tons of manure.
We conclude that straw is not only lighter, which is important for our hands and backs, but as it turned out to be more effective.
Now let's take a closer look at the substances that make up its composition: cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin. In addition, if the soil is fertilized with straw, it will be saturated with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, sulfur, copper, boron, manganese, zinc and cobalt. I can't even believe that the most common straw is capable of this!
In addition, straw not only forms humus, but it also helps the beneficial microflora multiply. It is also effective to apply straw to heavy soils to make it lighter and more loose. If you want to improve the structure of the soil in your beds, use straw!
To make the soil more fertile, sow siderates in early summer in those beds that you leave to "rest" for one season, and then add straw. Siderata are sown every three years.
Important points
Before you are going to bring in straw, it should be chopped up.
Green manures release large amounts of nitrogen and accelerate the decomposition of straw and increase microbiological activity.
Straw is brought in no smaller than 10 cm. This is the most optimal depth for the straw to mineralize and decompose as quickly as possible.
Don't forget about compost, which will also make the soil fertile.
For one hundred square meters, it is necessary to use at least 50 kg of straw, which must be chopped up in advance and allowed to decompose completely before using it for fertilization.
Draw your own conclusions and don't ignore such wonderful fertilizer as straw.
