3 easy steps to flowering Kalanchoe: how you can make a bright decoration from a nondescript flower
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers! Let me put on the agenda the cultivation of a simple, but cute and bright indoor plant.
Do you want to grow a lush ball covered with colorful flowers from a Kalanchoe? Give this unpretentious flower a little attention. It is as simple as possible to grow and stimulate flowering: I will tell you about 3 things that I personally consider the most important for myself.
Step 1: Stop being afraid to form a bush
The Kalanchoe has a curious nature - it tends to stretch and drag. Before being sold, they are specially treated with drugs that inhibit growth. This is how the dense bush turns out, which we, as customers, like so much. And precisely because of this, later, when the Kalanchoe begins to drag on, unknowingly disappointment sets in.
Really. No matter how beautiful the flowering is, comrades, it will not look on elongated and bald shoots.
Every spring I rejuvenate my Kalanchoe. I cut the apical cuttings and rooted in water. By the way, the plant very willingly gives roots - there have not been any problems with this yet.
Well, then, when the stalk reaches a height of 10-15 cm, I pinch the top (if there are no buds by that time). This is not to say that the Kalanchoe branches well. But he certainly won't do it on his own.
Light and light again
Shadow is the worst place for Kalanchoe. Far from the window, the plant will not only not bloom beautifully. It will become elongated and ugly.
After rejuvenation, I put young rooted cuttings in the brightest place in my house - the southeast window. And after a month or two, Kalanchoe releases buds. I prune all my plants in the month of March. And Kalanchoe blooms in May. In this matter, it is as fast as geranium.
Mandatory fertilization
Every year I plant Kalanchoe in fresh soil and do not feed the first 2 months. This time the plant feeds on the elements stored in the soil. But, comrade: in order for the Kalanchoe to bloom for a long time and brightly, then you need to start applying fertilizer:
- "For blooming" - every 2 weeks. I dilute 20 ml of fertilizer in 2 liters.
- I spray it once in the middle of summer with potassium monophosphate. This stimulates the recruitment of buds for another powerful flowering wave, after which the flowers gather in a bright hat.
Do you like Kalanchoe and was the article interesting? Put "Thumbs up" in response, comrade!
