I know the secret of how to make PVC fittings never leak
For a long time I could not understand why plastic fittings start to leak from time to time: it seems that I did everything according to technology everywhere, I bought all fittings and pipes at the same time and in one place. But some are flowing, and some are dry - if only henna. And then one day a consultant in a construction store told what the trick was.
The consultant turned out to be a plumber in the past, and said that the whole problem in the deformation of the rubber ring (oil seal).
And there are three reasons for deformation:
1) the sharp edge of the pipe sometimes pushes part of the ring out of the groove;
2) the ring is badly pressed, jammed under the clip;
3) sand / dirt gets under the ring, even a pinch of sand is enough.
Now, before assembling the connection, I must grind the end of the pipe - I chamfer for an easier entry. I do this either with a file with a large notch, or with an emery bar with a large abrasive. If I had to do this more often, I would buy a beveller.
Well, and secondly,
now I carefully check the connected elements for sand or dirt (especially when reused). I start the assembly with the installation of the gland and the pressure ring in the fitting, I moisten everything with water. I insert the tube and bring it to the stop, and then pull it back a little - mm by 2, while holding the pressure ring. Further, it is standard: I put the collet in place and press it with a nut.I will answer the commentators' questions, I do not use silicone.
