Tribute to tradition or why it happens
In Japan, a small plot of land is not a problem: people who are used to cramped conditions live here. In this country, micro-houses have existed and are popular for a long time. This is a category of housing: small, thoughtful and cozy to the smallest detail - almost like mobile homes, but only without them.
But in the United States, not everyone can own a home. Land is expensive here and real estate taxes are unaffordable. For this reason, one-sixth of Americans live in trailers - plywood houses on bricks instead of foundations. But there are also such options for affordable housing.
Europe - earlier it was called the Old World. Traditions are appreciated here and it is not customary to change the appearance of cities so easily. There is an old building one and a half meters wide - you cannot touch it - it is a cultural monument. Whether people live there comfortably or not - nobody cares: it is their choice. Yes, and do not try to offend their home, calling it dilapidated! It's just vintage.
I spit on everyone, I build as I want!
But there is a category of people who do not respect laws, safety regulations, or SNIPs. There is an opportunity to expand - use it to its fullest. And they don't care about their neighbors' comfort and other "minor" inconveniences. The palm in this is held by the owners of apartments with huge balconies, self-built. Give them the opportunity - they will start building on the roofs of high-rise buildings.
Here is an example of such an innovation. The owner of this "candle" apparently has a growing family. I don't really want to buy new housing and the thought comes to my mind: to make another floor up. An economic thought, why not continue? And so, a seven-story deconstructivist-style extension towers over the city.
And a narrow piece of land is not a problem for enterprising developers. The foundation is deeper and more powerful, the load-bearing walls of the first floor are stronger, the ceiling is stronger, and put at least ten floors on top! It turns out a kind of building-ships. I wonder how this is allowed? Engineers and designers, write your opinion!
