I bought a house by the road, but a year later I realized that I was not happy about it at all. I tell you why
A house next to an asphalt road is definitely good. Advantages: clean entrance, the ability to open a store, the price of land is growing steadily. But some see this as a global disadvantage. Which - will tell the member of our portal Stanislav.
There was a dream of a paved street
Until the age of 37, I lived in a private sector on an ordinary street without asphalt. There are hundreds and thousands of them in every city and they are all alike. This is a typical poor Russian suburb with poor architecture.
From autumn to spring there is impassable mud here, there is almost no lighting. It's scary to leave the car near the yard at night - the wheels and the battery will be carried away. And the car on the street has to be left not out of laziness, but because it cannot get out of a rut into the mud and enter the yard.
Year after year the same thing. In the summer, you fall asleep near the yard with construction waste and rubble, hoping that the road will not be blown apart in the fall, but this does not help. With the onset of rains, a neighbor's Kamaz passes a couple of times and the street again turns into a mess.
And also got the surrounding contingent. At one time, black realtors populated these areas with alcoholics and other asocial personalities of all stripes. Here there were enough of our own, and here they also made a generous addition. Looking at their faces, depression inevitably begins.
All this is pretty tired. I'm tired of the constant repair of the car, which in this mud ages in five years. Tired that with the onset of darkness there is nowhere to go. This was the limit. And although I have a good house, I decided to move to a normal area with roads instead of muddy roads.
What i bought
For a couple of years we have been strenuously saving money, took out a loan and bought half a duplex (78 m2) in a new area. When choosing a house, I realized my dream of an asphalt road and a clean entrance. The first month could not get enough of: beauty, order, rainy weather does not bother me. The street is bright, everything is in sight - you can leave the car at night.
The area is clean, well-groomed, consists of new buildings. The contingent is decent. The roadway on which I bought the house is expressway. The road leads to the village where the recreation center with stocked ponds is located. And also there is a large poultry farm and some kind of repair shop. In general, the track is quite busy and, by the way, the asphalt on it is very good. But there are no sidewalks!
What disappointed
I have three reasons why I didn't want to live here. The first is the constant noise and rattling of windows from passing vehicles. This takes some getting used to. Cars go constantly, and especially a lot from spring to autumn, when the recreation center is open. Quiet nights are here only in winter, when everything is covered with snow: at this time there is little travel.
The second is a column of dust. In summer, dust and sand rises from cars, which enter the house and settle on plants in the garden. A layer of dirt constantly accumulates on the glass outside, on the walls and roof.
The third and main reason is the lottery: what or who will fly to your yard. It is only 4 meters from my fence to the track. From the fence to the house - 7 meters. In general, the distance is short. And they drive fast here. Especially the residents of the village. They do not have a convenience store and they drive through our area.
So what's the lottery. One spring one reckless driver in a foreign car flew off the road and demolished a concrete post, which, in turn, fell on the fence. But not on mine - it happened fifty meters from my yard. A month later, another racer flew into the corner of a house two hundred meters from my site. Once Gazelle demolished a transformer box. In short: this is constant here.
During the first year of living in this area, I was run over by two cats. For animals, this is generally a bad place. Dogs and cats are constantly brought here and abandoned. They run the streets and are often hit by cars. Sometimes you hear the frenzied roar of the engine, then the whistle of the brakes, and then the heartbreaking cry of some dog. And this is about once a month.
Reckless people in this area are an element that does not allow to live in peace. They force parents to keep their children out of the house; stack a mountain of foundation slabs by the fence or bury the rails to save the yard from the distraught racer. Life here is an anxious expectation of something bad. At least, I felt it myself.
How we tried to fight this phenomenon
Naturally, there are sixty signs every half a kilometer here, but no one pays attention to them. Traffic cops know the peculiarities of the area and come here on weekends to fulfill the drunk plan. Residents of the village constantly go "under the fly" to the store, which allegedly does not sell alcohol after 22:00. They are caught, but most of them are excused from being deprived of their rights.
We gathered with neighbors and wrote a letter to the administration asking them to install speed bumps in the area of residential buildings. Officials said there was no money for this. We stated that we ourselves can establish these artificial irregularities. To this we were told that we have no right to create an obstacle on the road on our own initiative and without agreement. If someone suffers on it, those who installed it will be responsible.
What is the result
In two years of my life on the highway, I have lost the desire to constantly be in danger. I will not say that we live on a powder keg and shake. But the constant roar of motors, the whistle of the brakes and the rattling of windows are not weak.
Now I have conceived another crossing, but this time to the third line of this area. The road there is bearable, and most importantly, there is peace that we have missed.
