Towel dryers in our house are part of the heating system
A heated towel rail is an essential part of any bathroom. Even in Soviet apartments, they were in the form of a curved, rather ugly pipe in every bathroom.
Today heated towel rails can be chosen for every taste, of all sizes and types. There are electric ones, and there are water ones, which are built into the heating system and serve, among other things, for heating. But we acted differently in our house. Our heated towel rails are built into the hot water system and will therefore be hot all year round. After all, in the summer the heating is turned off, but there will still be hot water, the boiler will continue to work. And this is very convenient.
Of course, in the heat, everything will dry out by itself. But in the Urals, it is rare now that there is such a summer that the heat lasts more than two weeks. Therefore, the issue of drying linen, shoes and clothes, at times, is very acute. And this is in June-July. It was from these considerations that, thinking over the heating system and hot water supply, we settled on this option. By the way, in this we were supported by the specialists of the company that installed the heating for us. They said that they advise many people to do just that, and no one has yet regretted it.
Thus, when we connected hot water through an indirect heating boiler, it immediately became warmer in our bathrooms.
I'll tell you more about where we have heated towel rails. One is in the bathroom on the first floor. There is a warm floor that feels very good under the tiles. Therefore, even without hot water it was very comfortable. But with a dryer, of course, everything dries out very quickly after taking a shower, there is no moisture and drops.
The second one is on the top floor, where there is a bathroom for bedrooms. There is only a toilet and a sink. There are no batteries, so it was cool without heating. But after we turned on the hot water, it became very comfortable and dry.
We chose our models for a very long time and even argued. My husband wanted exactly the same option as in our photos, with a shelf. It seemed to me that it would get in the way and eat up space. But I decided not to argue, I immediately said in the store that we might exchange it for another. However, when I bought it for the lower bathroom and fixed it, I realized that this is a great choice.
This model makes it possible to dry several towels, clothes, even shoes at once. Since it is completely smooth, it can be wiped off very easily, no dirt and dust remains.
I must say right away that this is an expensive model, made in Russia, and not China. I don’t remember the exact price, but somewhere in the region of 9-10 thousand rubles. Of course, you can choose a cheaper one. After all, the point is not in the model, but in the fact that it belongs to the DHW system.
Thus, for those who are just going to design a heating and water supply system, I can say that our experience in integrating heated towel rails into a hot water supply system is positive.
We advise everyone to follow our example by having hot pipes in bathrooms all year round, which are never superfluous in Russia.
