Plants that cannot be hilled
Today we will talk about such a well-known technique in gardening as hilling. Hilling is the process of rolling the soil to the lower parts of the plant while loosening it.
However, this technique is not suitable for all crops. This article is devoted to this issue. So, a list of plants that are categorically not worth hilling.
Greens
Remember that absolutely all greens are prohibited from spilling. This list includes dill, parsley, arugula, lettuce, spinach, sorrel, and so on.
If you start to huddle greens, then in speed you will begin to notice that it begins to rot. As a result, it becomes unusable.
Cucumbers
Since the root system of cucumbers is close to the surface, it can be damaged. In this case, the cucumbers also cannot be hilled, because this can lead to the death of the plant and the complete loss of the crop.
Onion and garlic
In this case, you can only slightly loosen the ground around the onions and garlic, if it has taken on a coarse crust. These plants should also not be hilled as they can be easily damaged. Ultimately, the peeled onions and garlic will rot right in the ground.
Beetroot, radish, chard
It is better not to huddle all plants that are in the soil with fruits. The same is the same situation, because gardening tools can damage the fruit. Further, it will begin to rot and disappear altogether until the moment of collection. Therefore, beetroot, radish, Swiss chard and other similar plants are strictly forbidden to huddle.
Undoubtedly, hilling for such plants as potatoes, tomatoes and others is necessary. When hilling, the plant receives protection from low temperatures from the outside, so it ripens and we get more during harvesting. However, it is not always good for other plants.
