5 ways to decorate the joint between laminate and wall
Usually, installation of laminate on the wall does not cause difficulties even for novice craftsmen. But after the installation of the laminate is completed, the question arises of how to beautifully arrange the joints with the wall. To make a wall lined with laminate pleasing to the eye with its completeness, there are many technologies. Let's consider the most popular methods of seam design.
Method number 1
The easiest way is to leave everything as it is, but there are some nuances. First, the edges of the laminate must be cut without the slightest chipping and perfectly straight. The second condition is that the section of the wall, which is covered with lamellas, must be plastered and painted so that when looking at the seam from the side, the plaster is not visible.
Method number 2
Filling the joint between the laminate and the wall with colored silicone grout. With the help of a tester, you can select the optimal grout shade.
To make the seam even and even, the edges of the laminate and walls are sealed with masking tape in a contrasting color, for example, yellow or blue. The grout is applied with an ordinary syringe gun, after which the excess is removed with a rubber spatula. After smoothing the silicone, the masking tape is carefully peeled off and the seam is ready!
Note! An additional advantage of using a silicone grout is that after drying it remains elastic and perfectly compensates for the linear expansion of the laminate with changes in humidity.
Method number 3
An interesting way is to use a cork expansion joint, which is sold in strips of 5, 7 and 10 mm thick. Installation of the expansion joint is extremely simple: it is inserted between the edge of the lamella and the wall at the stage of gluing the laminate.
After the installation is completed, the expansion joint is carefully trimmed with a knife flush with the face of the laminate. It turns out a neat joint, which theoretically can even be painted in a suitable color.
Method number 4
To implement this method, you will need an external decorative corner - plastic or aluminum. Corners come in a variety of colors and textures, so choosing the right option is not difficult.
Since the laminate cladding is movable, the corner is glued only to the wall. For this, the same material is used as for fixing the laminate to the wall.
Method number 5
This original method will require a special decorative rope, which can be found in large hardware stores, where a huge variety of colors are presented.
Installation technology is very simple: the string is laid at the stage of gluing the laminate. You can use a rope of various diameters: it can be flush with the trim or protrude beyond its edge, in some cases the twine is even unraveled. This joint design method is often used in wooden houses.
