Effective spring treatment of fruit trees from scab.
What diseases do not affect fruit trees! One of these diseases is scab, a fungal disease that can affect not only leaves, but also ovaries and fruits.
How to recognize this fungal disease?
The scab primarily affects the leaves, and then "gets over" to the ovaries and fruits. The first signs are dark spots that gradually turn into holes.
The fruits are deformed and then fall off. The few that have not fallen off remain very small.
When to expect scab to appear on trees?
Most often, the fungus infects the tree in the spring or early summer. Favorable conditions for the onset of the disease are the air temperature not lower than + 20 ° С, and high humidity.
TOHow to deal with scab?
Everyone knows that disease prevention is much more effective than disease control. This case is also no exception.
Therefore, in order to avoid the appearance of fungus on trees in the garden, some rules should be followed: neither in any case, it is not recommended to plant trees too close to each other (at least 5-10 meters); it is preferable to buy seedlings of disease-resistant varieties; in late autumn, clean the tree trunk from fallen leaves and fallen fruits; carry out sanitary pruning of branches and free trees from unopened fruits.
Experienced gardeners are responsible for maintaining order in the garden. They recommend taking foliage and branches away and burning garbage there.
Never use the foliage from diseased plants to mulch other plants, otherwise the disease will spread to everything that you grow on your site.
In the event that there are fruits on the trees that, for some reason, did not fall off, like everyone else, remove them manually so that the pests have nowhere to winter.
The tool that you use to care for trees must also be treated with special agents that destroy the fungus and disinfect them. Most often they use copper sulfate or potassium permanganate.
In addition, for preventive purposes, trees should be treated in early spring, before flowering begins. Gardeners usually use a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid.
In addition, other drugs can be purchased in specialized stores: DNOC (100 grams per 10 liters of water), Nitrafen (200 grams per 10 liters of water).
But, if you did not manage to prevent the appearance of scab, do not despair! The fight against it may not be so easy, but with the proper effort, you will achieve a positive result.
The first step is to treat the tree trunk and leaves with a urea solution (500 grams per 10 liters of water). Trees with this treatment will receive the required amount of nitrogen, which will make them stronger.
The following preparations are suitable for subsequent processing: Skor (2 ml of the product per 10 l of water), Horus (2 g per 10 l of water), Fitolavin (20 ml per 10 l of water), Gamair (10 tablets per 10 l of water).
The third treatment is necessary after the trees have faded. This time, use a solution of the drug Hor (0.4%) or a solution of Bordeaux liquid (1%).
