Favorite feeding for Hosts in the spring. A gorgeous lush plant will not keep you waiting
Luxurious hosts, the green gem of my garden, are essentially no hassle! And it's not about some expensive modern fertilizers, everything is much simpler!
It turns out that to maintain the gorgeous lush appearance of these plants, one top dressing is enough, the recipe and application features of which I decided to share with you!
In the garden, hosts wake up one of the first and despite the characteristic for most species and varietal groups resistance to weather surprises, they need abundant feeding with nitrogen fertilizers.
The fact is that nitrogen is the main element that, in principle, is necessary for any plants for the active growth of green mass.
That is, simple organic fertilizers that are so well known for hosts - compost, coniferous waste, husks of nuts and seeds - are clearly not enough.
In addition to nitrogen, hosts also require phosphorus and potassium. But especially important is the fact that all three minerals must be supplied to them in certain proportions. Ideally, this is a 1: 1: 1 ratio.
I recommend that you pay attention that for most ornamental garden plants, on the contrary - in the spring, more nitrogen is added, but hosts are something special, for them the increase in green mass matters not only in the first months of the season, but also until autumn. A combination of 1 part and 2 parts potassium supplements of phosphorus and nitrogen is also suitable.
And instead of preparing such a mixture on your own, I recommend just buying a granular mixture for deciduous ornamental plants at a gardening store.
These granules are simply enough to fall asleep in the near-trunk circle of the hosts, you can - by slightly mixing with the ground. And then on top it remains only to mulch everything with the above-mentioned organic matter.
Naturally, the introduction of granular fertilizing is allowed only in well-moistened soil, it is possible even after a rain.
In conclusion of the topic, I want to add that in order for the introduction of fertilizing not to pass without a trace for the hosts, it is necessary to take care of the plants in a timely and competent manner, namely:
· Pour with warm water;
· Loosen the soil, facilitating the access of oxygen to the root system;
· Mulch the soil, preventing it from drying out;
· Prophylactically treat pests.
But I do not recommend experimenting with hosts, fertilizing them with yeast or something like banana skins - they quickly wither away from such strange recipes!
