I follow the 3 Main rules when planting Sevka - and my bow grows without arrows

Sevok are small bulbs grown from seeds, or nigella. You can grow it yourself, or purchase it from the store. It is planted in late autumn or spring.

One of the biggest troubles is shooting. Before dealing with the consequences, you should find out the reasons for this phenomenon.

Proper storage

First of all, the bow goes to arrows due to improper storage. Small bulbs must be kept at a specific temperature and humidity. Also, the room should be periodically ventilated so that the planting material can breathe fully.

Violation of storage rules leads to premature germination. The plant, instead of growing a bulb, devotes all its strength to the formation of a flower arrow and the ripening of full-fledged seeds.

Scientists have proven that flower buds form when the bulbs are kept at a temperature higher than +3 C, and lower than +18 C for twenty days and longer, then they are guaranteed to release arrows.

How to choose planting material

Before proceeding with planting, I carefully sort out the planting material and remove all diseased or rotten bulbs. It is also very important to guess with the size. The smallest bulbs are suitable only for autumn planting, and at the same time I carefully cover the garden for the winter.

Medium-sized bulbs with a diameter of 14-21 mm are considered the best for both autumn and early planting. They rarely shoot and take root well in the soil.

Large onions ranging in size from 21 to 24 mm are best left for greenery. They are guaranteed to go to the arrows, and no action can prevent this phenomenon. All bulbs that have reached a size of more than 24 mm are only suitable for greening or forcing.

Preparing to disembark

This is one of the most important steps. The final result depends on the quality of preparation.

1. First of all, the bulbs must be warmed up. For this purpose, it is enough to keep the planting material at a temperature of + 25-30 C for about three weeks. For this purpose, I use a regular battery. This is especially true for onions, which are purchased in the markets, and not in a specialized store. After all, no one can guarantee that the onion was stored in the right conditions.

2. Soaking in baking soda reduces the chance of shooting by 50%. For this purpose, it is enough to dilute ordinary baking soda in warm water. Concentration - 1 tsp. l. Per liter of warm water. Sevok is soaked in liquid for a quarter of an hour.

3. Soaking in hot water. The liquid temperature should not exceed 60 C. Sevok is placed in water for 2 minutes, and then immediately washed in cold water.

It is worth noting that onions should not be planted in frozen ground. It is worth waiting until it is completely warmed up. Otherwise, the plant will not only release arrows, but also harvest at a later date.
