Discovered deposits of titanium, phosphate and vanadium in Norway could make the EU completely independent from China
Newly discovered huge deposits of elements such as titanium, phosphate and vanadium can not only completely remove dependence of the European Union on supplies from China, but also to satisfy a significant part of global demand in these elements.
Real treasure discovered
Norge mining company, which carried out exploration work in the southern part of Norway, namely in the area called Egersund, made a statement that according to preliminary data in this area there are deposits of about 70-80 billion tons of titanium, phosphate and vanadium.
Experts already call this place "a real treasure" and, if further research confirms preliminary data, this place will become the largest deposit of these elements on planet Earth.
Intelligence and its data
Norge mining engineers performed a series of electromagnetic measurements. So the first measurement showed that a layer of minerals can reach a thickness of about 200-300 meters. The next electromagnetic study made it possible to establish that the rock also occurs at a depth of 2.2 km, and the third measurement showed that there are also fossils at a depth of 4.5 km underground.
According to the head of the company M. Wurmser, they could not even imagine that they would find such impressive reserves. He also said that the company has already received permits for exploration in a significantly larger area.
It is worth noting that back in 2012, it was suggested that there are minerals in this area and they were tentatively estimated at 30 billion euros. These numbers came from the assumption that minerals are only found in a small stratum at a depth of only 100 meters.
Modern research has shown that there can be about 70-80 billion of minerals. tons of phosphate ore, which could make this place the largest mine in the world. And thus, it will take this status from the field in Morocco, where 50 billion cubic meters were discovered. tons of phosphate ore.
At the same time, as experts of Norge mining have calculated, vanadium alone can contain about 2.45 mln. tons, but there are no preliminary calculations for titanium yet.
Mine opening - liberation from China
Currently, about 70% of all rare earth metals are mined and controlled by China. At the same time, the EU itself confirms that about 62% of all purchases take place in China, and this causes them clear concern.
Despite the fact that Norway itself is not part of the EU, the company that discovered the deposits is included in the European Mineral Alliance. So it is easy to assume that as soon as supplies begin from a new field, the priority will be precisely the needs of Europe.
"Of course, this will not happen instantly," says M. Wurmser - it will be at least five years before the first lots of rare earth metals are recovered from the deposit. But as soon as this happens, the volume of supplies will be enough to fully meet the needs of the EU and even cover 30% of the world's demand. And thus, China's hegemony in this area will be completely removed. "
