Why not every city dweller can live in the village
How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties we had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life in your house. Our subscriber shared her story with us.
I had to move from the metropolis to the village after the birth of my son. The boy was born sickly, and this circumstance forced him to move to the countryside with him. In the Salsk district of the Rostov region (160 km from Rostov-on-Don), housing is much cheaper than in a big city. Here I quickly found a decent house for a small amount.
Housing in the village
I chose a house with a land plot so that the child could walk in the yard. It was important for me that the dwelling was located near:
- hospitals;
- kindergarten;
- grocery stores.
When I found a suitable option, it turned out that there were no amenities in the house.
The first thing that had to be done was to bring water into the house, install a water heater, make a bathroom.
Workplaces
Despite higher education, experience as a teacher at a university, it was not possible to find a job in the specialty of a drawing teacher in the village. This is a big problem in the countryside. If there are jobs, they are occupied by relatives, acquaintances, friends of the management. Often these individuals have no special education. It is difficult for a city person who has moved to a village and has no acquaintances here to get a job.
There is a way out of this situation. Citizens can create their own business or work remotely. A person who is accustomed to an active life in the city is able to organize a small business.
Difficulties with construction, repair work
A big problem that I personally encountered is the lack of intelligent builders, plumbers, and electricians in the countryside. Normal specialists left for the city, and in the village people who were inclined to drink alcohol remained to earn extra money "in construction".
There is a queue for good, non-drinking workers. Naturally, they choose larger objects from the proposals received.
Benefits of living in the countryside
In rural areas, the air is cleaner and the food is better. Natural milk, homemade chicken cannot be compared with store products.
It is easier to get a place in a kindergarten in a village. There are other pluses as well. In the village, you can go ask the neighbors for an onion, a carrot that you forgot to buy. It's easier to negotiate with vegetable sellers about home delivery of purchases. Traders will gladly bring a bag of potatoes, cabbage, a box of tomatoes on order for free.
Before moving to live in the countryside, you need to find a job or have the resources to start your own business. If this is not foreseen, very soon you will have to return to the big city.
