It is very convenient to insulate the walls inside. You can do this in any weather. The insulation being inside the house has no contact with the external environment. It would seem that this increases its service life, plus savings on material (the area of the house is smaller inside).

Wall insulation from the inside is not recommended for the reasons:

  • The area of the rooms is decreasing,
  • It is necessary to move or protect furniture while working,
  • Dismantling of interior decoration,
  • If the work is not done correctly, the heat will not work.

  • If there are joints, then the insulation will not be of high quality.

The downside is that internal insulation worsens the microclimate in the house. Fungus, mold, dampness in the premises may appear. It doesn't matter what kind of insulation was used. The so-called dew point is to blame. In simple words, this is exactly the place where cold and warm air meets. As a result, condensation appears.

Never insulate the walls of the house from the inside: problems of internal insulation

If the walls are not insulated at all, then the dew point will be in the middle of the wall. All moisture will accumulate in the thickness of the wall. At sub-zero temperatures, moisture will freeze, and when it is plus outside, it will thaw and evaporate. At the same time, the room will smell of dampness for a while.

If the insulation is made outside, then the zero point will be in the insulation. You can remove moisture using a ventilated facade or the right vapor-permeable materials.

If the insulation is inside, then condensation accumulates in the insulation. The heat remains in the insulation and does not reach the walls. In frost, moisture accumulates, does not have time to evaporate and turns into ice. At positive temperatures, it will begin to melt. Insulation gets wet as a result of walls and decoration. Then the appearance of mold, mildew on the walls, indoors. There is a damp smell from here.

The zero temperature point shifts far inward. This leads to the destruction of the masonry walls. The effectiveness of the insulation comes to naught. Competent insulation is always done only outside.
