It's a shame to tears - a little snowfall, and destroyed the greenhouse
What an offensive feeling it can be when you regret that you did not do a little trifle, but it led to unpleasant consequences.
This morning, leaving for work, I looked at my greenhouse under the window. There was a small layer of snow on it, because I cleaned it up last week.
But in the afternoon, it suddenly warmed sharply and the snow began to pour in already wet, thick. However, the snowfall before lunch ended. And I became too lazy to go home, check the greenhouse, remove snow from it. I reassured myself that I recently cleaned, so nothing will happen.
But when I returned from work at 5 pm, I went out into the garden and was stunned - my greenhouse was sold out! One of the polycarbonate sheets just cracked lengthwise and settled inside the greenhouse. A huge hole has formed, which cannot be repaired right away.
Moreover, this did not happen in the place where it was attached to the frame, but just in the middle between the edges of the greenhouse. That is, the frame just did not suffer, but the polycarbonate burst.
I had to prop it up with a stick so that he would not be torn further. And when my husband returns from work, we will make supports for the polycarbonate. After all, simply substituting a stick, you can completely break this fragile material in the cold.
In the meantime, I was busy cleaning a large greenhouse that had broken down. The snow layer was not that thick. But it was wet and heavy.
The small greenhouse was not damaged. Maybe because it is newer. And the polycarbonate on it is not yet so worn out. But, of course, we also clear it of snow.
The problem is that during a thaw, the snow melts, and then freezes and a rough crust forms on the polycarbonate. Snow does not roll off it, so it accumulates more and more every day. I looked on the Internet that 1 cubic meter of dry snow weighs 300 kg, and thawed - 500-600 kg. It is clear that it is very difficult to withstand such a mass.
Therefore, I advise everyone to keep an eye on their greenhouses. If we blinked at the house, then for those who have a dacha outside the city it is generally problematic to save greenhouses. How I wished I had gone to check my greenhouses at lunchtime!
In the fall, you need to make props in advance, then you will not have to shed tears over the spoiled shelter.
