Two years ago I discovered the Daikon radish variety. At first, we just used it fresh, in salads. And now we have learned to ferment radish with beets! I highly recommend growing this early vegetable in your summer cottage.

The Daikon variety belongs to the early maturing radish varieties. It takes only 90 days from germination to harvest. The content of ascorbic acid is 30 mg per 100 grams (for comparison: in onions only 5-7 mg per 100 g). Pickled radish is used for off-season use as a pickled product, which is a super health food!

For the spring growing season, we use the Daikon Minovase radish variety. Daikon contains a minimum amount of acute substances.

The garden culture prefers loamy and clayey soil types, it bears fruit well on black soil.

The worst thing for a radish is the heat. At an air temperature of more than 27 degrees, the plant throws out an arrow and begins to bloom. To avoid the phenomenon of mass flowering, you need to plant seeds as early as possible in the spring, literally right after the soil thaws.

How we sow Daikon radish

In mid-March, the time will come to prepare the beds for sowing various varieties of early radish.

We sow Daikon in the spring under a string, or under a marker of a manual seeder. First, we make furrows in the ground with a wide glanders, add humus and amofoska.

· Lightly sprinkle the bottom of the furrow and make a narrow tape 3-4 cm deep in it, into which we pour water (1 liter for each running meter).

· Sow and sprinkle with soil. Radish rises quickly, about 5-6 days. The root grows rapidly, and by 10 days it can reach 30 cm.

· The plant grows due to moisture, which is concentrated in the deep layers of the soil.

· Occasionally water the furrows, the rate of water consumption is now up to 2-3 liters per running meter. It is necessary to ensure that the water penetrates into the deep layers of the soil. We do not water the aisles.

· After watering, we loosen the bottom of the furrows, but when the leaves grow, we stop doing this, since the leaves cover the bottom of the furrows.

· We are fighting the cruciferous flea. After germination, we use repeated spraying with the biological product Aktofit with the addition of liquid soap. To scare away aphids, add the preparation Bi-58.

Spring radish is very healthy, almost sweet in taste, with a minimum content of bitter substances. The pink Ostergrus variety deserves special attention.
