On the Internet, I saw an unusual onion of huge sizes "Exhibicion", the head weight of which reaches up to 1 kg. I decided to try to grow this salad variety in my area. In the past seasons there was an experience of growing leeks, the harvest of which was pleasing.

This year, I wanted to grow an unusual variety of large sizes, since I and my whole family simply adore onions, we do not store them for a long time, because they are quickly eaten before winter.

A few nuances about the Exibishen onion variety

Delicious salad variety of onions. Refers to medium-late varieties (from germination to mass lodging of leaves - 130 days). The bulbs are stored for 3-4 months. Yield – up to 10 kg per m2.

In the middle lane, they are grown through seedlings. In the southern regions, they are sown in open ground at the usual time.

How to prepare for boarding

First of all, I disinfected the seeds in hydrogen peroxide, leaving them in solution for half an hour. In addition, peroxide will saturate the seed with oxygen, which will give a quick boost to germination. Then I dried the seeds a little before sowing.

How to plant

From the container, I chose a 5 liter plastic bottle, which I cut in half (you can take several, depending on the number of seeds). I bought a primer (universal) in a store. The soil should be fertile, light and loose for onions. I poured soil into the container, tamped it a little so that the surface was even.

Then she spilled a solution of potassium permanganate to disinfect the soil, made grooves no more than 1 cm deep and sowed seeds at a distance of 1 cm from each other. Sprinkled with the same soil (disinfected). If there is vermiculite, then you can sprinkle the grooves with this material.

I spilled the crops with water, put a bag on top and put them in a warm place for germinating seeds.

Seedlings should appear in 1.5-2 weeks. The onions will grow in the same container, without picking until they are planted in the garden in May. It is enough to feed the plants with complex fertilizer 2 times during the seedling period.
