I have not bought impregnated shoe sponges for a long time. Only dry and two means for protecting shoes from slush, known from the USSR
Greetings to all, all visitors to my humble blog who are interested in the topic of this publication!
Winter is already completing its journey, one might say. Since there is already a lot of snow, and perhaps even more in March, as happened in earlier years, will fall even more. And therefore we must assume that it will melt for a long time, there will be a lot of slush and puddles.
Well, where there is slush, there the problem with shoes begins. Feet get wet, shoes deteriorate pretty quickly. Not everyone can wear a platform, and sometimes a thick sole does not protect from moisture and splashes. Even expensive and high-quality shoes lose their presentation from daily getting wet.
So I decided to share my advice - how to keep leather shoes longer using quite cheap and affordable means? And these are not expensive chemicals, specially sold in shoe stores.
Why have I become an opponent of shoe polish and impregnated sponges?
Firstly, all the special chemistry did not help me much, but spoiled my shoes for the season unambiguously. Maybe I didn't buy quality products? - I do not know.
Secondly, the cost of one impregnated sponge costs about 25 rubles and more. And it still suffices for several uses, more expensive ones have more, but still too expensive.
Thirdly, I cannot say from personal experience that the appearance of the shoe material does not deteriorate from these creams. With all these creams on a daily basis, the surface feels like it is greasy or covered with a layer of chemistry.
Back in the fall, I found other ways to protect my shoes.
When I was writing an article about the first remedy known since Soviet times - castor oil, several people added to me in the comments that there is a remedy better than castor oil.
Between the lines, let me insert links to other posts from my channel:

First, I want to say about castor oil - this is the first means for protecting shoes. Only I use it to prepare shoes for going out in the evening. I put them on nylon tights or cloth-like rags from old coats, polish them thoroughly and leave them overnight. It is well absorbed into the skin overnight and can be worn in the morning. But it is undesirable to use castor oil during the day - this is a big minus.
If among the readers there are those who use these tools, please do not pass by, write below in the comments your feedback for others, so as not to be afraid to apply.
The second remedy is petroleum jelly. Readers wrote in the fall that it is absorbed better than castor oil. I began to apply and can already from personal experience say what I liked and not ashamed to recommend. Unlike castor oil, I began to use Vaseline oil even on a sponge.
#Saving the fact that the bubbles of both of these funds will last for a long time, for multiple impregnation of rags and sponges.
You can buy a small dry (without impregnation) sponge in plastic packaging and soak it with castor oil. You can carry with you to work. And you can use any flannel cloth for application. My leather shoes have been looking great since autumn. In winter I did not use it in frost, there was no need. But with the onset of warmth, I'll start again. If anyone is not sure about the effectiveness of these funds, you can ask your ancestors about their experience from those very Soviet years.
