The question of using the contents of the toilet as fertilizer has been discussed for more than a dozen years. Someone is in favor, but many are against such plant nutrition. However, in some countries of Europe and Asia, fertilizers are produced from this raw material. But they do this not just by packaging the feces in bags, but heat treatment, disinfection and enrichment of the "product". After such a technological process, fertilizers rich in phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium are obtained. How I Found It: A Funny Story

Opposite and two houses away from me, Nikolaich lives - that's what everyone calls him; this is how I know him from childhood. Nikolaich is an eccentric peasant, but greedy and economic. He has some kind of livestock, breeds worms; he has a good garden, there is a well-groomed dacha. In general, a person lives by subsistence farming.

One hot summer night I woke up from suffocation, or rather, from a terrible stench. At first, I did not understand what had happened and began to rush around the house in search of the source of the smell. Just in case, I touched my underwear - well, you never know what happens!

It turned out that the smell was coming from the street through the open windows. I went out of the yard and saw some kind of bustle in front of Nikolaich's house. There, two women in robes were discussing something nervously. Then they went into the front garden and began to knock hard on the window.

“Why are you a fool brought home?! Well, take it away quickly, otherwise I'll call the police! " One of the women screamed. More neighbors pulled up to the house, a scandal flared up. I went there too. I wanted to know what finally happened!

It turned out that Nikolaich had brought in a whole truck of manure late in the evening and dumped out into the street. But this manure is specific, if I may say so, originated from man! How and why he brought it home - it did not fit in my head.

As a result, under pressure from his neighbors, Nikolaich began to eliminate the source of the terrible stench, namely, to cover the pile with cellophane. This, of course, did not help much - a sleepless night with a gag reflex was provided for all the neighbors.

What was it all for

Then, meeting him in the store, I asked for what purposes he needed "it", and even in such a quantity. Nikolaich said that this is the best fertilizer, everything grows on it by leaps and bounds. According to him, it is unrealistically profitable and profitable.

"So you bought it yet, or what?" I asked. “No, here on Bera (street) they demolished housing, and there are street toilets. I drove the tractor, picked everything out of the pit with a bucket, loaded it and brought it home for processing, ”said Nikolaich. "How much did you give for delivery?" I asked. “I agreed with the tractor and the machine for the worms,” he replied.

He went on to say that he had read about the benefits of human feces several years ago. Then he cleaned the pit of the outdoor toilet, and put all the contents in the compost pit, mixing with sawdust, tops, leaves and straw. "Two years later, it turned out to be an excellent fertilizer!" - explained Nikolaich, overexcited with excitement.

“I have something to compare with! I even set up an experiment: I specially fertilized part of the garden with vermicompost, and the second, with humus from my toilet. The result is obvious - "it" is even better than vermicompost! And I'd rather sell vermicompost! " - said Nikolaitch. I asked about helminths, but he claimed that in two years all the parasites in the compost pit burn out.

How he makes his super fertilizer

Nikolaich prepares all this in an ordinary compost pit. The composition is as follows: 50% of the contents of the toilet; 30% sawdust; 20% goes to grass, leaves, tops, vegetable residues. And also ash is necessarily included in the composition. According to him, ash neutralizes a large amount of acids in raw materials. In general, almost everything is done as with pig dung.

The compost lasts for two years until it turns into humus. Then Nikolaich mixes the resulting mass in equal proportions with horse manure and receives fertilizer rich in micro- and macroelements. A home-grown agronomist adds this "product" to the soil in the spring when digging a plot, and somehow else uses it when watering.

I asked to see him in the yard to take a close look at the garden. I was very surprised - the garden is just exemplary! Selected tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, zucchini on the beds. Along the fence juicy raspberries, large gooseberries, currants; grapes are gaining strength.

“At the dacha it is even better - I have collected half a ton of selected potatoes from a hundred square meters and sowed more crops. But here not only fertilization plays a role, but also the selected varieties, and the appropriate care - everything in the complex! " - boasted Nikolaitch.

But even after I saw an exemplary garden, I did not dare to engage in such agricultural innovations. I could not step over myself - I disdain. I just witnessed the successful use of such an unusual fertilizer and decided to share it.
