How to seal the holes in the corrugated board on the roof from self-tapping screws (5th method is the most successful)
Slate was once the most popular roofing coating. It is durable, strong and easy to install. Over time, modern materials appeared that replaced slate.
The installation of the roof takes place with the participation of special self-tapping screws with rubber gaskets.
It so happens that a person is wrong. Poor installation leads to unnecessary holes in the corrugated board or metal tile. The "eye" fails or the boards are nailed incorrectly.
Erroneous holes must be repaired with something, closed, in order to maintain the waterproofness of the roof and so that the appearance does not suffer.
Ways to seal holes from self-tapping screws on the roof
1 way
It would seem that the same roofing screw should help. But if there is no support, then this option will not work. You can put a piece of plywood or a block about 1 cm thick from the attic. It will be screwed on and will "sit" firmly like a lag. There will be no leaks. But if you do not slip these planks or a roof with insulation in any way? Another solution is needed.
2 way
Bituminous-polymer tape. You need to cut off a piece and glue it to the hole. She is sometimes glued to the joints of the profiled sheet for additional protection from moisture. It's simple, fast, but not pretty.
3 way
Bolt with nut. You need to choose fasteners of a similar size with a self-tapping screw. You also need to buy a rubber washer, nut.
Add a little sealant when installing. It is better to use a special roofing sealant.
4 way
You can simply seal the hole with a polyurethane-based bitumen-based sealant.
There is a sealant based on a dispersion of plastics. Freezes in 2 minutes.
5 way
The most successful and aesthetic way - close the hole with a blind rivet. Worth riveter not so expensive, it will come in handy later. It will take a couple of minutes to work. There are rivets on sale with a diameter like that of roofing screws (4.8 mm.).
Just do not forget to drop a little sealant under the rivet head before starting work. This will provide effective water resistance. If there is paint to match the color of the corrugated board, it is better to paint on top.
