I have relatives who work in a budgetary organization in a remote Siberian village for half the rate equal to 5,000 rubles. There are no other works there. We will not discuss why this is so in budgetary institutions and why such small pensions. But why low salaries for ordinary employees in private and large companies with high turnover and solid profits? I was once convinced that the more an employee is paid, the more he values ​​his workplace, the more he is motivated to do his job better. There are, of course, lazy people in life, but we are not talking about them.

At work, I am in contact with a small number of store owners and directors (not the grocery sector). And I see that there is really no way for sellers to pay big salaries. With the arrival of federal chains, turnovers dropped, the purchasing power of the population fell, and the cost of rent increased. Many have closed shops, and the rest survive. This is the market.

But among my contacts there is also the owner of one wholesale and retail company, average in terms of turnover (for the region). Two managers, two girls in the staff, through whom all clients of the company pass. Because I have been working with them for several years, then I know their salaries and I know the turnover of the company. We have an open and trusting relationship with the owner. Once in a conversation openly asked: "Why don't you pay decent salaries to managers"? The answer surprised me: "What a high, what a low salary - they work the same way."

Although the owner himself is a normal person, not tough, even sympathetic, here he showed the whole real face of capitalism. Moreover, he hired managers for this salary for more than six months (after the previous ones left one by one).

What do you want? First, the profit of the company, and only last, the social orientation of the business. Under capitalism, profit comes first. Decent salaries? What for? The answer is simple: if you are not satisfied, quit, we will find others, there are no irreplaceable ones. This is how low-skilled employees are treated.

Another company I work with is several stores (also not a grocery sector). Sales assistants change almost weekly. The work is not easy, and the salary is low. Mostly girls work, guys don't stay long. Although the topic of goods is more masculine. And absolutely the same thing was confirmed to me in a conversation here - they work the same way for any salary. There, no one is going to invest in the training of salespeople and keep them here with a high salary.

Yes, business owners create jobs and they determine what salaries to set. And the salaries are already set such that migrant workers even go to work in the field of mining. I witnessed in 2019 when 80% of passengers from Central Asia were traveling in the Novosibirsk-Neryungri carriage to work on a rotational basis.

The other side of the question: why did these salespeople not study, build their careers and stay on this social bar? The answer is simple: everyone is capable of career growth and training? Someone still has to work as a salesman or a cleaner. But why is this work not appreciated? Is it harder to find a replacement for a top manager in a bank?

I am a sales manager myself, whose salary has not changed for 10 years. Agree, buying something for a certain amount 10 years ago and now is a significant difference. And these are not my flaws as a specialist. Such a system of motivation for the employer, when% of the salary is calculated not from the amount of turnover and your sales, but from the fact of fulfilling the plan for a group of goods. In short: if you overfulfill the plan this month by even 700% (there was such a thing), you will not receive more than a certain increase in salary (maximum 46% of the salary). And next year the plan grows: this 700% + 10%.

At the previous place of work, working in state trade, I earned $ 1 million for my employers for two years in a row (if translated). But so that I did not leave with my earned interest, did not open my own business - everything I earned was not immediately paid. It was only years later that I learned that the directors had been built in a cottage, and I took the last amount of debt a year after I was fired (although they didn't throw it, and that's okay).

Someone will write that this whole text is like "Yaroslavna's cry" that I am complaining. No, I'm not complaining about myself. I am happy with everything, tk. found a way out. Just a statement of fact. But here's feudalism in a capitalist wrapper to see for all the years of work pretty tired. It is he who instills hopelessness in people in low-skilled jobs. Because people do not see the future. Not financially, not in any ideology in general. And everyone lives in this society.

Another opinion is that everyone, to the best of their abilities, deserves what they deserve in this life. That to each his own. But, only such people forgot about this phrase from Roman law (Jedem das Seine) on the gates of the German concentration camp.

I don’t want a moment like 100 years ago: when the lower classes don’t want, but the upper classes cannot. Who says history is cyclical? I am not calling for anything. But no one knows what to do with the growing stratification in society under this system. As I see it, the issue is not about power, but about the system and the relationship of people to each other.
