Gas boiler Navien: advantages and disadvantages after 4 years of use

We connected the gas to the unfinished house 4 years ago, while installing the Navien Ace 24 gas boiler. Honestly, there were doubts, because the reviews on the Internet for this boiler are exactly the opposite. From laudatory to completely abusive.

But, when I talked with the owners, I realized that this boiler, although it has some whims, but these whims are easy to satisfy on their own. Not like other boilers, including Korean ones, like ours. They need to be repaired with the help of craftsmen and it is very expensive. I serve my boiler myself.

How is this boiler different?

Firstly, it is very thin and can be easily hidden in a closet. At the same time, it has a remote control panel that can be taken out to another room. It is very convenient that you do not need to run into the boiler room to adjust something.

The remote control is very simple, it is intuitively clear what and how. Since the boiler is double-circuit, the hot water temperature and the temperature of the house heating are regulated on the remote control. The display is liquid crystal, everything is visible even in the dark, there is a backlight.

The heating rate is quite high thanks to the copper heat exchanger. That is, you don't have to wait for hot water from the tap for several minutes, wasting water. This happens pretty quickly in our country. Of course, not like a boiler, but quite acceptable.

Navien has a flame modulation system, that is, when the water heats up to 30 degrees, then the burner power decreases, that is, the burner heat exchanger "regrets". Therefore, it serves much longer.

Well, now about the shortcomings

I will not hide, they are. Of course, although the boiler is gas-fired, it runs on electricity and when it is interrupted, all settings are lost. It cannot be left unattended in winter.

Secondly, it heats up unevenly, first heats up the batteries, which gets hot, then turns off and becomes cold. But we eliminated this shortcoming in the second year.

To make it quieter, they simply connected a constantly running pump with the heating turned on. Problem solved.

I want to give advice to those who use such a boiler: the filter mesh on the return pipe in front of the boiler should be strictly in a horizontal position and be turned 10-15 degrees downward, when it is turned off by two cranes. Then it works as expected.

In general, such a boiler can be recommended for those whose hands grow out of the right place, and who can identify and eliminate minor flaws, such as dripping condensate. If you are afraid of every hiss, then the craftsmen will have to give half of the salary.
