Do-it-yourself vibrating plate. I explain why you need to do it if you can rent it

A vibrating plate is needed to prepare a sand bed for some types of foundations. The pillow should be especially carefully tamped under the slab foundation. Vibratory plate rental price - from 1000 rubles / day, and work there for half a day, then why waste time and money on the manufacture of this tool? I will give my comment at the end of the article. In the meantime, for those who are interested, we are looking at the manufacture of a vibrating plate with a platform vibrator:

You will need a sheet of metal 8 mm thick and 80x45 cm in size. We mark strips 10 cm from the edges and cut the metal with a grinder to half its thickness. Bend the edges along the cutting lines by 22-30 degrees, and weld the seam.

Next, weld two sections from the channel to the width of the plate. This will be the platform for the platform vibrator. Common brand: IV-99E (220V). Their cost is from 7000 rubles.

The cost of metal and wire for the vibrating plate is another 2 thousand. rub. To reduce the cost, you can choose something from scrap metal based on vtormet (30 rubles / kg). The cost of a new vibrating plate is from US $ 30,000. If you are not engaged in the construction of foundations, then there is no point in acquiring it.

We mark the seats for the platform vibrator, drill holes and fasten.

We bend the handle out of the pipe. But it must be fixed to the vibrating plate through the rubber mounts of the car engines. You can buy it at any auto parts store. The main problem when working with a vibrating plate is hand vibration. Vibration damping must be taken seriously.

The vibrating plate will weigh about 60 kg. To move it, you need to think over quick-release wheels of small diameter (as on factory models on axles) with installation on the plate itself or weld the frame. We turned the vibrating plate onto the wheels and transported it to the place.

Final view. The metal must be cleaned with a corded angle grinder and painted in a bright color as in the factory models. Otherwise, it will look like scrap metal.

A vibrating plate of a similar design with areal vibrators is produced on-stream. For example, models: Vibromaster-VPL, Vibromash VU-11-75 220V, SO 325, IE-4509A. But their cost is the same as for gasoline - from 30 thousand. rub.

I will write my opinion why all these troubles with the manufacture of a vibrating plate. Thoughts are:

1. Difficulty unloading a rented vibratory plate (if you are alone, without an assistant). I remember unloading and loading the vibroleg. That is another task, tk. the weight of such a tool is under 100 kg. And such a homemade product is already on the site.

2. If you are going to make floors on the ground and fill the ground yourself, then you need to do this in layers with a compaction plate. This may take a week or more. It turns out that renting a vibrating plate will be equal to the cost of making a homemade product.

The vibratory plate will also be needed for more than one day when laying paving stones. You need to tamp the sand pillow. The vibrating plate is also useful for building the foundation of a garage, a bathhouse, a gazebo area.

3. The platform vibrator can be removed and installed on a vibrating screed for vibrating and smoothing the concrete when pouring the foundation slab. How to make it yourself - there was an article here. Or here are the photos:

4. Also, the platform vibrator can later be used on a vibrating table for casting various concrete products (tiles, paving stones).

5. If you assemble a vibrating plate reliable enough, then it can be rented. And with effective advertising for the season, recoup the costs. Well, or sell it when it is definitely not needed.
