In their yard, many housewives - flower growers prefer to breed petunias. From my own experience, I will say that the plant is unpretentious and blooms from late spring to early autumn.

Personally, I prefer to plant petunias in flower beds and in the yard to admire its lush bloom. In order for a flower to really please the eye, some tricks should be used to grow it in breadth, not in height.

I'll tell you the secret of how I managed to achieve beautiful blooming colored balls in my flower bed.

My technique for growing petunias in the garden

I grow petunias from seedlings, for which I try to choose really high quality seeds. To form an even ball, I use the method of pinching the shoots, I try to remove the growth points as much as possible.

It is important to pinch the shoots correctly, I do it as follows:

1. I track when 4 leaves begin to appear, then I pinch off the central stem. It is enough to leave two leaves. After such an operation, the shoots begin to grow to the side.
2. I closely follow the lateral shoots, I pinch the central branches with the appearance of leaves, in the same way.

3. As soon as the length of the shoots reaches at least 12 cm, I repeat the pinching. You can shorten each branch by 3 cm.

If you do everything correctly, then with the growth of the plant you can see that the bush takes on a spherical shape. My bushes in the flowerbed reach 80 cm in diameter. In no case should you pinch only the top, you should equally monitor the lateral shoots.

Naturally, for a plant, such operations to reduce shoots are accompanied by stress, so petunia can bloom two weeks later. To avoid brittle branches, I also provide the plant with proper care, which includes the following points:

1. I feed the petunia with special fertilizers for flowering, add organic matter, for example, such as wood ash.
2. After pinching, you can add growth stimulants when watering, this will strengthen the root system and make the shoots more juicy and thick.
3. Despite the fact that petunia is an unpretentious plant, it still needs minimal care. When flowering, there are flowers that have wilted to remove. This will not only improve the appearance of the bush, but also give strength to the formation of new buds.

In no case do I cut off the shoots, but I pinch them with my hands, this is the only way I get a spherical bush. When pruned with scissors, the bush grows differently.

Pinching is carried out constantly, as soon as the shoot has grown to 10 centimeters, it must be reduced by 3-4 cm. That's the whole secret of my beautiful blooming petunia garden.
