What mixture did we make for finishing the floor and what came of it

Internal work continues in our new home. The ordered staircase to the second floor will be ready soon, so the flooring needs to be finished. On the second, attic floor, the frames of metal partitions are exhibited. Now you need to fill the floor.

We use a cement screed for the floor. This is the most proven and, at the same time, the most economical option. In addition, we were just about to go on vacation, so there was time for the poured surface to completely dry out and gain 100% strength. This happens after 4 weeks.

The screed is divorced in water, so this option, although more expensive than just a cement-sand mixture, is many times easier and does not give as much dust as a home-made fill for the floor. We used the Garant mixture, which is inexpensive.

On the second floor there is an opening in the floor for a staircase; a fence made of boards was made around it. The gaps between the slabs were pre-plastered so that the mixture would not flow down. We did not do any reinforcement, since we have a concrete floor, the layer was applied very thin so as not to "eat up" the height of the ceiling. The perimeter of the floor was overlaid with a damper tape so that the gas blocks did not absorb moisture from the floor, because it dries for a very long time.

The surface of the second floor was almost perfect. When the level was checked with the laser, only one angle was slightly higher. So the builders - a deep bow, everything is done conscientiously. Therefore, there was no need to install beacons.

Then the mixture was diluted in tanks using a mixer and poured into the rooms of the rooms, which were already bounded by the frame of the partitions. The proportions of the mixture and water: 180 grams of water are used for 1 kg of the mixture. Screed consumption for a layer thickness of 10 mm from 19 kg per square meter.

To prevent air bubbles from remaining, the entire surface was rolled with a hedgehog roller, which drives out all voids and no shells remain in the floor.

The fill is done pretty quickly, the three of us did the whole job in half a day.

When laying the laminate after a couple of months, no problems with the floor were found, the surface was completely flat, the laminate fit perfectly.
