How my friend was thrown when buying boards. A popular cheat method to be aware of.
Wood, as you know, has long been a leader in the building materials market. This is understandable, because it is enough durable, multifunctional, and even at the same time environmentally friendly.
Therefore, all and sundry are now engaged in the sale of lumber, from manufacturers to private outbidders.
Wherein often they shamelessly cash in on customers not having sufficient experience in this matter.
There are several ways to cheat. Below we will consider one of the most popular ones that my acquaintance has encountered.
After all, as they say, forewarned is forearmed.
One friend of mine, for the installation of soft tiles, needed to make a continuous crate.
He decided to carry it out with the help of boards 25X150X3000 mm. Considering that the total area of the slopes was 110 m², buying a board came out at a decent amount.
Therefore, he was very happy when he offered to buy boards at a lower price, but, according to the seller, of excellent quality.
The price for a cube of a board 25X150X3000 mm was 9000 rubles.
To erect the lathing, he needed to buy 244 boards (110 m² / 0.45 m² (area of 1 board), which he did by paying 24750 rbl.
We calculated this amount for him as follows:
The volume of one board is 25X150X3000 mm = 0.01125 m3
1) 0.01125 * 224 = 2.75 m3.
2) 2.75 * 9000 = 24750 rubles.
And everything seems to be right and good, but only in the end there were not enough boards for the crate.
At first he began to count, maybe he was wrong somewhere in the calculations.
In terms of numbers, everything agreed, but in fact there were not enough boards.
Puzzled, he turned to me. Without hesitation, he invited him to measure the thickness and width of the board with a tape measure and then everything fell into place.
All boards shipped were wide 140 mm instead of 150 mm, and the thickness was only 22 mm instead of 25mm.
An acquaintance grabbed his head when he counted how much he was deceived. The difference was about 8000 rbl.
By the way, the seller of the boards was never found. Apparently I have safely changed my place of deployment.
What can you say, conclusions suggest themselves:
- First, good lumber cannot be cheap.
- Secondly, before buying, it is imperative to measure the boards with a tape measure or ruler.
