An outlet needs to be installed and the wires are too short. There is a simple and quick solution to the problem.

During the repair, sockets are often replaced.

And everything would be fine but sometimes there is a problem.

The length of the old reinforcements is not enough to properly fix the socket. They either broke off, or the supply of wires was initially left insufficient, or the design features of the new outlet suggest a large length of wires.

What to do?

There are several ways to solve this problem.

Below we will consider the method of lengthening short wires, which I usually use myself.

It turns out quickly and effortlessly.

In order to install a new outlet, hardly anyone is laying new wires from the junction box.

Usually short wire endthat sticks out of the cup holder nsimply connect to another piece of wire.

How do I do it?

First you need to de-energize the place of work and determine the type of wiring.

In our case, the wiring is copper, so we will build up the wire two pieces of copper wire about 10cm long.

For reliability, we once again check the absence of voltage in the network with an indicator screwdriver and get to work.

Removing isolation protruding end of the wire from the socket and a piece of wire for extension not less than 1 cm.

And we twist these wires using pliers, as shown in the photo above.

Important! It is impossible to twist an aluminum wire with a copper one. The connection will warm up.

Then to twist screw on the cap type PPE and wrap the wire connection with electrical tape.

In the same way, we build up the second wire and place the connections inside the socket box.

Then you can start installing the outlet. With such a length of wires, it will not be difficult to do this.
