Top 3 Best early-ripening varieties of Tomatoes, for those who want to taste a vegetable Before anyone else
When choosing varieties of vegetables for planting on our site, we will definitely pay attention to early ripening varieties. I, like all gardeners, always can't wait to pick a ripe tomato as early as possible. And it is important that it is tasty, sweet and meaty.
In my climatic zone (middle lane), it is possible to get a tomato crop as early as mid-June. Over the years of gardening, I have tested hundreds of varieties of tomatoes, and chose three early ripening varieties. They are distinguished by their unpretentiousness, productivity and excellent taste.
1. Aurora (hybrid)
Tomato bushes limit growth after 70 cm. Rounded tomatoes, red, no more than 100 g. The crop begins to ripen 80 days after the emergence of sprouts. The hybrid is resistant to disease, tolerates coolness well.
In the middle lane, I shoot the first fruits in mid-June. The taste of tomatoes is pleasant, sweet and sour, there is enough juice. I remove up to 3 kg from a bush.
2. Big Mama
A large-fruited variety that forms strong bushes, 60 cm high. They do not require pinning, but need to be tied to a support due to the large weight of the fruit. Tomatoes are red, heart-shaped, very fleshy and sweet, weighing up to 200 g.
The crop is ready for harvest at the end of June, when sown for seedlings in mid-March. I remove 2-3 kg from each plant.
3. Garden pearl
Low-growing tomato from the group of varieties "cherry". Bushes, only 30-40 cm in size, can even be grown in a flower pot. Small red, very sweet fruits, ripen by the end of 3 months from sowing.
I do not plant a Pearl in the garden, but grow bushes in a box on the kitchen windowsill. This gives me the opportunity to shoot ripe tomatoes as early as May, when sowing seeds in February.
Fruiting in this variety is extended, in contrast to standard early ripening tomatoes, which give the entire crop at once. From each "toy" bush I collect up to 1.5 kg of tomatoes.
My choice of determinant varieties of early tomatoes is not accidental. Not having a full-fledged greenhouse, I grow tomatoes in the open field. To get an early harvest, I plant seedlings of early ripening tomatoes in mid-May, in film tunnels.
Advice. To protect the seedlings from frost, in addition to the film, I use warm high beds. They are based on fresh manure and fertile soil, laid on top with a layer of 20-30 cm. Rotting in the ground, manure emits heat, which warms the soil in which the roots of the tomatoes are located.
