DIY folding toolbox. Convenient design has not yet been invented
Probably everyone has a toolbox. The most common option is plastic. They have a small cost, but they are not ideal in terms of convenience.
You fold the tool inside, on top of the cover for fasteners, consumables or a small tool. Recently I met an example of a more convenient design of a portable toolbox. I appreciated the convenience of using it even from the photo:
The boxes are moved in one motion to the sides and free access to all levels at once. Each compartment can contain its own type of tool, fasteners, etc. The lowest cost of such a metal box, which I found, is for the "Service Key" model (from 1257 rubles):
Size: 420x200x220. Weight: 4.4 kg. Live photos of similar tool box from customer:
Because the box is metal, the instruments in it will rattle. Of course, at the bottom of each box, you can put cut "rugs" from linoleum, carpet, thin insulation (made of foamed polyethylene). This will partially resolve the issue.
The tool box looks more attractive when it is assembled from plywood. You will not find wooden cases on sale. This can be assembled from scraps of plywood (often left) and a set of bolts and nuts.
The bottom drawer is made of thick plywood. The long sides of the upper drawers are made of thin. Fastening of boxes - through pieces of the same thick plywood on bolted joints. The boxes should not be rigidly fixed - they should rotate freely in the mountings.
The top drawer cover is made of plastic sheet. The edges are heated with a building hair dryer and bent under 90 g. But the covers can be made of thin plywood with fastening on small furniture hinges.

Drawer drawing for those who do not do everything by sight:
If aluminum scraps are lying around, then the case can be assembled in this form:
In this case, you need a riveter and aluminum corners. If you buy everything, then the box will be comparable in cost to factory steel products. Therefore, if you do this, then only from free scraps. The list of necessary items is on the third slide. Judging by the list of materials, the cost of such a box will be at least 2,000 rubles. Therefore, it makes sense to collect if the aluminum cuttings were obtained free of charge (from some other work).
Option of boxes from drywall profile scraps:
Shown here is a suitcase box. But the compartments for our construction are made in the same way. The disadvantage of a homemade metal box will be its sharp corners. Therefore, the easiest to assemble and with an attractive look is still a plywood box or a factory version of such a box.
