How to get rid of the wireworm effectively once and for all.
In 1983-1985 I lived and worked in the town of Pavlovsky Posad near Moscow. I asked for a plot of land for potatoes.
Since I was a novice in these parts, I was given a plot from which a local old-timer escaped because of a wireworm.
There was nothing to do, I took this site. It so happened that I bought for my former biologist wife a brochure on the life and development of insects.
Before sending her the brochure, I carefully read and studied it. It also contained information about my neighbor, a wireworm pest.
The article mentioned information that the wireworm does not like shading and loosening the soil.
And I started to fight the wireworm. I made wide aisles, about a meter.
When I began to huddle the potatoes, I formed deep grooves between the rows of planting, like trenches.
Then I decided to create shading of the soil: dung the grass and put it in these trenches at the level of the ridged potato ridge.
Added grass from time to time. When the harvest began, something unusual happened.
My potatoes were huge and all clean without a single wireworm mink, which of course caused an inexplicable surprise among the locals.
I hope my experience in combating this malicious pest of potatoes will help you. Good harvests to you!
