Glued the breakage with baking soda super glue. I explain the secret of the gluing speed and strength of this adhesive mixture

For over 30 years, everyone has known super glue. It was invented in the USA and has been sold there since the 50s of the last century. The working substance in this glue is called cyanoacrylate. This substance polymerizes in air or upon contact with the moisture contained on the surface of objects.

Scientifically, this process of polymerization of cyanoacrylates is called anionic polymerization when exposed to weakly alkaline agents and ordinary water. In this regard, many people know the folk way of adding baking soda when gluing with super glue.

Baking soda is an alkaline material. And when added to cyanoacrylate, it will be not only a filler, but also a polymerization accelerator. Moreover, very fast. The material of such an adhesive mixture has high strength characteristics and can replace epoxy compounds by itself.

If the super glue slowly dissolves when water gets into the seam and the product falls apart over time, then cyanoacrylate plus baking soda are already insoluble. But the material, like cyanoacrylate itself, is a poisonous compound and contact with food materials is prohibited.

Instead of baking soda, you can use fine plaster, concrete dust - they are also alkaline. And both fillers of the mixture will act and accelerate the polymerization of superglue. Baking soda is more affordable - found in every kitchen. And its white color is perfect for many materials.

Then I did not know the secret of gluing with soda yet. There is moisture in the refrigerator and in a few years the super-glue has dissolved and the breakdown has repeated. This time I glued it with soda super glue.

After this exercise, the fingers were in super-glue. I used to go with this crust. During the day, moisture fell off when washing hands. But now I have a super glue cleaner:

It removes super glue + baking soda not so well. But pure super-glue dissolves and wipes off with a bang. At the same time, I cleaned the dirt from the foam on the silicone phone case (there were traces after photographing the foaming process - I did not see that the glove was in foam).
