What trees are soil dehydrators and what is better to plant near a cesspool

If your site is in a low-lying area and the groundwater is close to the surface, and rain and melt water complements the problem, then think about draining the soil in a natural way due to plants. Among the trees and shrubs, there are real pumps capable of pumping large amounts of water out of the soil. They will not only help in draining the site, but also reduce the regular costs of pumping out the cesspool.

What trees are soil dehydrators and what is better to plant near a cesspool

How it works

In biology, there is such a thing as transpiration. It is the process of collecting moisture by the root system and evaporating it through the stems and leaves. But of all the absorbed moisture, only a small part is spent on the growth and development of the plant, the bulk of the water simply evaporates. Thus, the plants are protected from overheating.

This is a physiological need, in which some trees are able to pump from the soil and evaporate up to 900 liters of water in one day! And if the site is soaked, then you can safely plant plants with a high transpiration rate and the soil will dry out naturally.

So how much water do trees pump out of the ground?

Poplar is the champion in this type of competition. It is able to pump up to 900 liters of water from the ground per day. But, of course, this tree is too bulky, and if you plant it, then it is better to do it behind a fence. He will reach the water in any case. In nature, it is so arranged that the lion's share of adult trees can get water within a radius of 7–12 meters from the trunk. Consider this indicator when planning the site.

And on the site you can plant the following trees:

  • bird cherry - absorbs and evaporates 150-200 liters per day;
  • birch - an adult tree will not only pump out 200 liters per day, but also decorate the territory;
  • spruce is an excellent option for landscape design - it consumes up to 300 liters in 24 hours;
  • oak - 250-600 l / s;
  • pine and beech drink 100-150 liters per day;
  • Norway maple and willow - 250 liters per daily interval.

Planting several of these trees will partially solve the problem with wetting on the site, and also help minimize the cost of pumping out the pit. The so-called bio-drainage, it takes time for the trees to grow up. But this method works flawlessly.
