What to do for zinnias to rise quickly and amicably. We grow seedlings, use boiling water
Zinnias are an unpretentious and beautiful plant that is often found in our areas. Many plant the seeds of this flower crop directly into the ground, but in cooler regions, zinnias are often grown through seedlings. Or, who wants to get early flowering, they are also sown in containers or other containers.
Sowing is carried out at the end of March and throughout April. Zinnias bloom from mid-June until frost. Heat-loving plants, tolerate drought and heat well. In bouquets, zinnias look great.
How to sow for fast germination
I sow zinnia in two ways: in cups and bowls (buckets).
If you sow seeds in cups, then you do not need to dive the seedlings before planting in open ground. The disadvantage of this method is that these containers take up a lot of space on window sills and shelves, because on the latter it is necessary to place other seedlings of vegetable and flower crops.
If sown in containers, then the plants will have to be dived into separate cups.
When sowing zinnia in 5-liter plastic buckets, you do not have to replant seedlings either. This option is called bouquet.
Sowing in cups
When sowing in cups, it is necessary to make drainage holes in them. At the bottom of the container should be laid out foam, expanded clay or seed husks. The soil must be poured just above half the glass.
Then you need to slightly compact the earth (for this I use an old crush). Place seeds on top. Not all seeds will sprout, so you need to put a few things in the glass.
When sprouts appear, only a strong sprout should be left, the rest should be cut off with scissors.
Seeds need to be spilled with boiling water and sprinkled with a little soil mixture on top to a depth of 0.5-1 cm. Slightly need to compact the ground. And once again spill with warm water with Fitosporin-M so that the soil gets wet up to 3 cm deep (this can be seen in a transparent container).
Sowing in a container
When sowing in the second way (in a container, a bowl), drainage and holes in the bottom of the bowl also need to be made in the container. It is necessary to pour earth on top and compact it a little. Then you need to make grooves to a depth of 1-1.5 cm.
The seeds must be spread evenly, at a distance of 2 cm from each other. Then you need to sprinkle the crops with 1 cm of earth, compact the soil and spill it with boiling water. The container must be covered with a lid or foil.
Next, you should sign the varieties of zinnia. Then you need to put the crops in a warm place, where the temperature will be within + 22- + 25 degrees.
Seedling care
Seedlings should appear in 2-3 days. As soon as the first seedlings germinate, the lid or film should be removed and the containers (cups or container) should be placed in a bright place.
If there is not enough light, the zinnias will stretch out. Therefore, in the first decade, it is possible to provide illumination to plants. Watering should be done in moderation, otherwise the seedlings can get sick with a black leg and other rot.
Care also consists in loosening the soil. In May, the seedlings have time to build up a good root system and green mass before planting in open ground.
