Changed a Soviet chandelier to an Italian one: is it worth the candle?
Greetings! Thank you for stopping by. Today we'll talk about electrics, lighting and aging stereotypes that each of us has.
Whether because of the approaching old age, or because of the notorious sense of community, our generation (60+) is convinced that everything is the best that was done by mankind on its historical path from a digging stick to a smartphone, it was made precisely in the USSR and exclusively by Soviet engineers. The best in the world, but what else?
And when the children offered to change the old Soviet chandelier in my office, I refused: it is already good! And it doesn't matter that the same "genius" Soviet Creator for some reason sent her plafonds back to the ceiling. And it doesn't matter that one of the lamps turned on only a minute after clicking the brand new Legrand switch.
Children, if you are reading this article, excuse me for my skepticism and senile "grumbling". You understand that a pension is not given "just like that" in our country ..
As my dear reader might guess, I nevertheless agreed to replace the old Soviet chandelier with a new Italian one. Here she is in the photo. Structurally, it is completely different, it shines strictly downward. And, I confess, her design is better than the previous one.
To convince me, the kids even measured the light level with an app on their smartphones. In the gallery below I have attached two screenshots: the first is the illumination with the old chandelier, the second with the new one.
As you can see the soviet chandelier loses to the modern one by 4 times!
During my construction practice, I saw hundreds of meters of burnt wires, therefore, the electrical safety requirements for the chandelier were very serious.
This chandelier (by the way, it's time to say that its brand is Velante) is doing well with this business: terminal blocks made of real brass in a housing made of durable plastic, wires are thick, wrapped in a generous layer of heat shrinkage. There is a grounding contact. Everything according to the PUE, the manufacturer - I praise and recommend.
As it turned out, this chandelier cannot be found in the well-known Green home improvement store with a French accent. This brand is sold only from an authorized dealer - the company Brend svet.
On Saturday evening, I gave the children consent to replace the chandelier, and on Monday morning the chandelier was brought to the CDEK pick-up point.
Work promptly! They did not take money for delivery, they said it was free for the client.
In general, I do not regret at all that I changed the old for a new one. I advise everyone to update their lighting fixtures. The office has become brighter, my daughter says "you won't spoil your eyesight," and now I'm thinking about replacing the chandelier in the hall. Everything is like in that cartoon: "And now you know what? Build me a hut!
The children said: "Appetites are growing" ...
I leave room for your comments and questions! Now I can tell you how to measure the illumination level with any smartphone!
