The eternal question: what to build a fence from? One of the simplest and most inexpensive options is a board fence. But its appearance is banal. I would like both inexpensive and with a beautiful attractive view. And so that one more could be built without the involvement of builders.

If you build from a board, then the best option is to install the edged board in a checkerboard pattern. It turns out a double-sided fence with minimal windage. I propose to look at examples that, in terms of the volume of materials, are equal to a fence from a board in a checkerboard pattern, but the view is much more interesting and more exclusive. These are fences with double-sided installation of edged boards at an angle of 45 degrees in the form of a grid.

This option does not have crossbars between the posts (you can save a little). Installation begins with the shortest corner boards. All boards are pre-coated with decorative wood impregnation in the desired color. I recommend using light shades - no resin is visible on them. And she will certainly appear in the sun in knots. Planks need planed - less impregnation will go away and the view from the fence will be better.

A gap is left between the ground or concrete tape and the planks. To do this, put the same board 25 mm thick on the ground or on a tape and the boards are supported on it during installation.

No fasteners are visible in the photo. To do this, the boards can be fastened to each other in two tongues and fixed with nails in the lower end of the board at the junction. It is labor intensive and requires precision. It is possible without dowels, but then you need to drive in 1-2 nails diagonally into the end at the junction of the boards. The place of fixing the boards to the posts (it is better to make the posts metal) is closed with a board on both sides. The lid on the posts is a "pyramid" of two pieces of the board.

But this option from the board will bend. And it takes a lot of nails and time to install them. The work will be simplified if the boards are fastened to each other with self-tapping screws (2 pcs.) Only from the bottom and from the top. And close the fasteners with boards.

For a more reliable fixing of the span, a board-cover is screwed to the upper jumpers. And the view is more harmonious and the span gets elasticity - it will not sway during strong winds.

Using this technology, sliding gates can also be sewn up. Option for those who do not need a solid fence. Between neighbors is a great option. The shadow from the fence is not so solid - it is good for plants and trees.

Such a fence looks less beautiful with the installation of boards on the crossbars between the posts. But in any case, more beautiful than vertical installation.

If you do not like the fence built by your neighbor, then you can close its view with your own fence by mounting such spans from inclined bars on its posts. This option is made of WPC (wood-polymer composite) decking. The material is expensive, but you do not need to cover the boards every 5-7 years with impregnation.

Non-standard version with inclined board in one direction only. Here the volume of materials is about the same as for a regular one-sided fence, and its appearance is much more interesting.

Also a beautiful example of a board mesh fence. The boards are fixed in a frame made of 50x50 mm bars (on both sides). Fence spans do not bend.

There is only one drawback of such fences - the tree needs to be covered (renewed) every 5-7 years with decorative impregnation. Better from both sides at once. If the length of the fence is more than 50 mi, this is a significant cost. For 100 m2 of such a fence, you will need up to 20 liters of impregnation for renewal.
