“What they forget to do when changing a mask” - Did you know?
It would seem nothing complicated, unscrewed the old mechanism, installed a new one, assembled everything in the reverse order and you're done. But, not everything is so simple, do not rush to do so.
We extend the work
The new disguise has factory lubrication, this is good news, but This is not enough, it must be additionally lubricated, then the service life will increase. Checked by me repeatedly! And you also need to lubricate the pusher slider. Simple little thing, but many just don't.
Works hard or sticks
Everything was smeared, installed, but the key starts to work hard, or even sticks at all. When I first encountered such a problem, I came up with a solution that I still use.
For this I grind the edges of the pusher, smoothing the angle, install and try until the key starts to work easily.
Moreover, it is necessary to ensure that the second turn of the key is easy, and not only the first.
Even when replacing the cover plates on the mask, do not overtighten them with screws, especially for Chinese doors, otherwise the metal will clamp the mechanism.
How to lubricate an old mechanism
It happens that the old key starts with time, it turns tightly in the mask, then just generously wet it with machine oil or silicone grease. Then I insert it into the mask from both sides, and so several times, wipe off the excess grease with a rag. The truth is simple, but many do not.
