Why I don't use cloth towels anymore in the kitchen. It's all about hygiene

The kitchen towel has always been an integral part of this room. I remember from childhood how my mother had these towels on a separate shelf in the closet, carefully ironed on both sides and folded in an even pile. Mom forced them to iron them very carefully, because they come into contact with the dishes, with the hands with which food is prepared.

That is why my kitchen towels were always quite pale and washed out, because I made sure to boil them. Only the newest specimens still retained their brightness and original design.

There was practically no need to buy new towels - this is the simplest and most useful little gift for various small occasions. For example, on professional holidays, on March 8 and the New Year, I always found them in 2-3 gifts. And she was always glad to them.

But lately I hardly use kitchen towels. When the pandemic began, hygiene began to receive a lot of attention. And I read somewhere that the dirtiest things in the house are dish sponges and kitchen towels! They accumulate fecal bacteria that can be transmitted through hands, utensils and kitchen countertops.

To be honest, I'm not a very impressionable person, but since then I have constantly caught myself thinking that it's time to change the sponge and towel. To prevent this thought from becoming intrusive, I bought a roll of paper towels. But they did not suit me, they absorb too little water and leave fluff when wiping the dishes.

Then I decided to buy more expensive non-woven towels in a roll. And I really liked them. Now this roll is always on my kitchen table. But I just can't get a special rack for him, they are very expensive. As soon as a cheap one comes across, my kit will be assembled.

These nonwoven towels resemble a covering material in the garden beds, only they are softer. Their advantages include that they are suitable for all surfaces and do not leave streaks. They do not produce lint like paper towels. And non-woven wipes are anti-static.

Of the three types of towels - paper, non-woven and cloth, I choose non-woven for myself. Moreover, there are often discounts on them, when you can buy two for the price of one, and it turns out that they are not more expensive than paper ones. And in large stores the stock prices are quite reasonable.

But the most important thing that I get from disposable towels is a sense of security. They are, after all, at one time, rubbed and - in the trash can.

But I cannot say that I once and for all gave up the traditional cloth kitchen towels. True, I began to change them every day, I put the wash on the hottest mode. Boiling now, of course, makes no sense, the washing machine heats the water up to 90 degrees.
